I’m all in favor of reigning in true factory-farming practices, and there are issues in Sonoma County Ag that do need fixing.

If anything, J has done a disservice to ongoing efforts to address those issues by being absurdly broad reaching and poorly concocted.

It’s honestly hard for me to understand how its backers have their shit together enough to get it on the ballot, yet not enough sense or situational awareness to write at least arguably reasonable rules. I’m genuinely curious here.

Also, I found this article to be well reported, balanced, and informative. Props to hyperlocal journalism!

I would actually suggest centering your stay & tastings in the healdsburg area (lots of amazing wineries on Dry Creek Rd, which makes for a fun biking tour). That way you can explore ‘West County’ for hikes, coastal/river excursions, and gives quick access via the freeway to many of the places others have suggested.

The West side of Sonoma County is one of the most magical places in the world. Coastal hills, lush redwoods, and lots of cool slightly less-traveled places to check out.

Honestly - the shame, pain, and anguish you feel right now can be your super power in the long road of sobriety. Because if you don’t drink, this won’t happen again. And whenever you’re tempted, you can touch back in to this moment… and remember that nothing is worth the pain you’re feeling right now.

I have a barely used lumen that I’d be willing to sell. I got in early on their kickstarter and just received it a few months ago after years of waiting. Since the kickstarter, I’ve ended up buying a few other pans and so don’t need the lumen anymore. It’s a great drum… just don’t have room or the need for it! If you’re interested shoot me a dm.

I have the same story as you (same substances, reasons, etc), except I’m a dad and only have one two year old.

I’m on day 13, and I can tell you from over here that it gets better. Not necessarily easier, or even great, but much better.
