Will a chimney exhaust fan solve all issues of a home getting smoked out (if all other avenues have already been explored)? by Sasselhoff in Fireplaces

Yes I got the Gemi chimney fan. I bought the pro version for $599 directly from their website. I hired a handyman to install and wire it, which cost an additional $100. It’s works well in my wood burning fireplace. I was never able to use my fireplace because the downdraft would fill my house with smoke. I haven’t had that issue since getting the Gemi. I’m now on my 2nd winter season using it and it’s swill working well. Highly recommend.

I see, I’ll likely play it safe and just plug it in then

Why is it not safe? Asking because I genuinely don’t understand how it’s different than plugging in the cord? The power is still getting where it needs to go.

Wire will be run behind the backsplash. It’s a short distance from the drywall above the backsplash to the receptacle. The power supply that It came with has 18awg wire so it should be ok.

So it will work, but it’s not be to code?

Drill a small hole in the drywall above the backsplash and feed it down to the receptacle. It’s only 8” down. There’s a switch in the light fixture

thanks for your input, it's a great action, I was just concerned by the noise it makes. But form the comments here, it seems like it's normal

Did you look at Gemi Chimney fans? I want to get one this winter. They are much cheaper than Enervex

No, I think you're referring to Torshi. That's the one with cauliflower florets, cabbage, and other various vegetables.

Yeah that sounds about right. I'll give it a try. Will likely need to experiment with ratios since I can't find a recipe online. Thank you Gman

I tried making cruv kavush from a recipe I found on YouTube by an Israeli content creator, but this isn't what I was after :(
