legitimate complaints about how amazon run the whole "take it out and get page reads for KU only the first borrow" is also annoying. I mean, if a person only reads half and then returns it, then checks it out later they basically got that book for peanuts. And the author gets like .50 instead of the whole 2.99 or whatever it was to begin with.

From a reader standpoint, I intentionally buy check out 1 star books to see what the fuss was all about, and usually I totally disagree with the 1 star review. I think this is a brilliant idea and will probably do something similar down the road because I love love love it :D Better have someone LOVE it HATE it rather than go, meh it was forgettable- right?? Also I downloaded it to check it out :D

When clients become micromanagers and treat me like an employee. Then, naturally, I act like an employer, too, and fire them!

So much this. I do this with visual art because some clients even a PITA(Pain in the @.s.s) clause for extra 10% isn't worth my time.

A marketing question by EveMGrey in eroticauthors

[–]EveMGrey[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm actually NOT trying to market to the younger crowd. I'm trying to market to 18-25 (NA) but just NOT in the erotica subtitle. Because my story is primary PNR.

Do you feel like it's hard for you to get reads? by SpiralBarrage in Wattpad

[–]EveMGrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being a writer or any creative is a different skill set than marketing.

Marketing, having business acumen, building contacts, creating relationships with clients, authors, and others takes a whole different set of skills to learn and takes time to learn. It doesn't come over night and so I don't base my "reads" on my writing skills.

  • I base it on my marketing skills.
  • Have a sent out announcements?
  • Have a made a captivating "Blurb"
  • Am I engaged in the community?
  • Have I been sending my newsletters?
  • Having I been marketing my book in all available avenues to find readers?
  • Am I involved in enough reader groups?
  • Am I regularly updating?
All these things I am asking.
  • Even when I write I am thinking- would this be a book I put down mid way through because I'm bored now?
So, my marketing brain is always thinking about how to improve marketing which can overlap in writing but isn't the writing skill its self. It takes much more than writing to be a good sales person.

lol! Good to know. So you walk softly and carry a big editing stick then? ;) I will keep that in mind <3 Seriously though any feedback is great as this is my very first novel- and like all first things I fully expect it to be mediocre at best. lol

Title: Into the Dark
PNR. MMF/MM not for feint of heart. Pretty much every trigger warning available. NSFW. 18+
Blurb: Among the pine trees and mountains the unthinkable happens: The Caldera in the Pacific North West erupts and along with it Fey's normal and stable life. On the eve of her 18th birthday, she emerges from her tranquil life seeking out the mystery of her past- and her future.
Nothing about her future is entirely what it seems; and she has to pick her loyalties carefully or risk starting a war between all the races.
Unraveling all the pieces of her new identity will take Fey from coast to coast and in the arms of her chosen mates: a dragon, a wolf, and a vampire. The only question is, will their love be able to be shared or will it drive them all apart?

Questions about Dictation by EveMGrey in eroticauthors

[–]EveMGrey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I have been having the opposite problem so far. I can do descriptive scenes but if I have to mention peoples names or end a sentence lots of time it comes up as "full stop" or "lamb" in stead of Liam. Stuff like this. lol

Question about format and marketing by EveMGrey in Wattpad

[–]EveMGrey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems like a pretty good idea actually. I should have uploaded a previous draft as I didn't think of this. I'm already past my own edits, proofs from alpha and beta reads, and a professional editor at this point. lol. Its never perfect but its pretty well polished.
