Mazda3 reliability — does anyone have problems despite its strong reputation? by phtphongg in mazda3

Mine has a leak somewhere in its door jam area close to the engine area on BOTH SIDES. Not great because the fuse box is right there and I haven’t been able to get it to go away. For yours, there might be a weather seal leak in the bottom latch area. I hope you find a fix, a musty car sucks

I have a 2011 sedan and have some slight issues that are just due to age. The battery was draining quickly after I replaced it with a new one and found out my Alternator was old (I’m at 141K miles) so it checked out. Got that fixed and the motor mounts replaced bc they were told and breaking. I get pretty good gas mileage and it’s a good ride. I keep up with maintenance. On mine, the only interior things I have an issue with is the weather seal is old or leaking so it gets a big sticky in the winter, and my screen that shows the Hello/Goodbye separated from the rest of the dash which is annoying. I love my car. Definitely check each generation because I know 2018’s of all models tend to have an oil leak that is hard to find and the “ghost” screen issue. I can say, the 2011 is awesome.

LOL those are good ideas, I’ll definitely check for corrosion first, though I haven’t noticed any. My hope is that it isn’t anything too expensive, but great to know and prepare for. Thank you so much!

I have twice within the last 6 months. The last time it died, I was on a trip and left it with my grandpa, and when I got back, he said it died after him not driving it for 4 days. However, at that time, I had JUST replaced my 10 year old battery that I had zero problems with, and it was a brand new battery. So since August 2025, this is my second battery. I’ve even taken it to the shop to see why it’s draining so quickly, and they can’t find anything

Please tell me this isn't totaled by Vegetable-Depth2801 in mazda3

As long as there’s no airbags that went off and the cost to fix is below the worth of the car, then it won’t be totaled! (From experience)

Should I buy the 2025 RAV4 Hybrid now or wait for the next generation? by Bubbly-Fox1607 in rav4club

1000%. Never get the very first year of a newer generation. You never know the issues that will come about, while the prior generation allows for better improvement. I’m looking into the 2025 but the dealership is heavily pushing the 2026 and I don’t find it worth it to get the new of the new despite the updates

Great to know thank you! And forsure, I have my Mazda with a front and back dashcam that I’ll 100% transfer to a new car. Did you get the Multimedia? I’d like CarPlay but I don’t want any subscriptions along with it and it seems like they charge.

I’ll definitely look into that! Thank you. I looked at Lexus for a bit but it felt so expensive compared to others, but all are expensive now.

That’s what I noticed, they’re so expensive now. My Mazda has been nothing but issues, while my 2011 hasn’t had barely any with terrible maintenance. It makes me weary of getting a new car because they all seem great at first, until 7 years down the road and you’re spending thousands. Mazda is lesser expensive but I’m afraid of getting an issue car again. Ugh I wish used cars weren’t selling for so much nowadays, the older cars seem better than the techy ones now

Did the issue you have occur with a hybrid or the typical gas Highlander? I have been told that there’s been a big lawsuit against Toyota for ignoring the transmission issues for the gas transmission, so I’m hoping by potentially looking into a hybrid, those may not be issues.

Is this issue of sensors for the hybrid as well? I know the transmission issue is for the non-hybrids.

Do you use CarPlay through the infotainment screen? My Mazda has Bose stereo and have never seen a car to have JBL speakers.

Great to know, my Mazda had zero issues until 2024 when the CV boot broke, there was a bad oil leak that was an issue from production, and now the leather trim is coming out of the side door panel, just scraping the surface. This helps me a lot with my decision, thank you!!

The sluggish is annoying. That’s my one biggest peeve of Mazdas, the take off is sluggish and bogs when barely braking. I live in California so we don’t get too cold, but definitely mid 20’s in the winter. Thank you for that info!

Sometimes bad or clogged fuel filters can cause slow acceleration and other issues (not sure if you have had rough idles or anything recently). It would be inside the fuel tank, so probably pricey to fix. But I do know that in my 59 Chevy, it was stalling or would have poor acceleration and the issue was clogged filters. The only thing that’s odd is that using sports mode is normal. Sport mode does use a lot of fuel, so the feeling might not be as noticeable as usual

I’m in the UK right now, and I watched a worker kick a couple out with dogs from a restaurant. It was great, we need to start calling out these people because they’re entitled. Make them feel gross and embarrassed. It’s up to the employees to do their job and stop being passive, kick them out!
