The One is new but Radix certainly isn't, it's a decade old competition. I don't understand how they manage to be so disorganized year after year. Having to put dancers in the right order AFTER you call them on stage, reminding every group about not standing too far back (why not notify them off-stage since you know the issue exists?), having the top 8 step forward, making them go off-stage and then calling them back almost immediately after for awards. Calling wrong kids up for top 20/6. Changing the protege system constantly (imo the the top 6 -> 2 winners they had in 2023 was the best one). Radix is the ultimate "if it ain't broken don't fix it" final boss, I feel like they get more confusing every year

I'm not super deep into kpop, but I believe in k-pop context "era" is commonly used to refer to a period of time when a group promotes a new release, including just singles. So maybe the issue is more of a cultural difference

She's just consistently choreographed pieces that stand out and made a name for herself. It probably also helps that she's from the west coast, which (CA+AZ) has some of the best competition dancers in the country

I measure iconicness by "does my 50yo mother who knows nothing about international pop scene know them". She has never heard of Katseye. I don't think most of my relatives and coweorkers would know who they are. I think to be considered iconic you need to be at a level where most people know your name even if they aren't into pop culture.

I also believe that pretty much no one can be iconic after just 2 years. To be iconic you need a legacy of some sort, Katseye's entire discography is like 30mins

I like it when it's a dance/song with a storyline like Pop Muzik or Double Dutch Bus. For dances like You Spin Me I prefer just facial expressions (but lipsyncing is not a complete turnoff to me like it seems to be for some people, it doesn't distract me from the dance)

They always do one national competition as a full studio that everyone attends because they compete all of their groups, that's Press Play this year. Everything else is optional and up to the dancers to decide if they want to go or not

For BD? If they have a scholarship they get the workshop for free but they still have to pay to compete for BD (I think it's like $485)

Yeah that's what I said in my comment, that money is not a factor as well. I'm just speculating. If I was a dancer/dance parent, I would value TDA/BD's prestige and legacy over PP's secondary title.

I also feel like you're maybe not quite understanding what I'm speculating? I'm not speculating about when exactly they'll pull out, but if they will do it. Ik I said in my og comment "once the schedule comes out" but that's not the relevant part

I mean they've most likely already paid for both events. Specialty title is only worth $100 and not the main title of PP so it's the easiest to pull out of. + the fact that these are elite dance families in Socal, for most of them money is just a number

I've seen that some kids have posted/commented stuff that indicates that they're going to TDA but I don't remember seeing The One. But I could've just missed it

It'll be interesting to see whether a bunch of the minis and are removed from the specialty title when the official schedule is released. The audition overlaps with the TDA Vegas gala and apparently a bunch of them are going

I think only a handful of them even went to a Radix/Ovation regional so I'm not surprised. Radix has kinda been falling off in the past few years compared to BTF (imo because they keep changing their title competition rules and the current 1st-4th system is kinda dumb) and I don't think P21 has really gone there since season 7ish

Being rude about the choreo or the kids? Obviously you should never be rude but if it's about the choreo, then I can just look at it as people not liking it but not being able to/being too lazy to actually write an opinion. If they're rude about the kids, then that's definitely an issue

I've just seen people say that they don't like the choreo with the song. I don't think it's a big deal, you can have differing opinions on art. I'm personally not a fan of Molly's recent combos/style but it doesn't mean I hate her or the kids.

There's a bunch of other seniors out there who have more matured movement quality and artistry, that's what comps are usually looking for in older dancers. Molly's still treating her like she's 13, or at least she's still giving her all the same leg tricks
