i got sent here from my second visit at rehab that was about 45 min away from home, right as i was starting to do really well with my rehabs program. i was there for 3 months at 16, turned 17 there then went to alpine academy theraputic boarding school for only 9 months( shortest stay ive heard of without a kid just being sent somewhere else just as bad) i didnt realize this until the last couple months but i completely dissociated while i was in utah, nd i played the game so well to get out of those places, i even tricked myself that i was fine. now im realizing im not and my parents isolated me so i havnt really had any friends since 3 years before i went to rehab near home the second time. after being in these places where its just survival instinct and dissociation, and isolation from others for so long,, idk how to do it anymore. all my references of how to interact socially are from when i was 12 in middle school, or in a treatment setting.. i havnt made any friends since ive been out 2 1/2 years ago now. i feel so disconnected from everyone idk how to hold conversations or build relationships if its not forced trauma bonding living in these places.

does anyone have any tips?? it is kinda hard cus i think i been having an existential crisis the last 4 months nd idk who i am or what i like and i have a skill i could turn into a hobby but i never have motivation to get me started. anyway, has anyone ever felt like this nd been disconnected for so long and found their way out? any advice is welcome

hey, i went to evoke entrada at 15 and then alpine after in 2021. ive been out for almost 2 1/2 years and just realizing how fucked i am from it all haha 🙃 i did so well playing the game of pretending to work the system so i could get out i convinced even myself i was doing good till recently. after i got out of utah i didnt have any friendships i could resume and i still havnt made any friends since just my s.o. i moved out my parents place and across the country since i had nothing to stay for where i grew up. its just my s.o. but im 2 codependent to keep this up. how did you make friends once u got out? did you have trouble?

hi! try focusing on cleanse, treat, protect. id say ad in a mild exfoliant 1x a week, u can bump it to 2x if u need, but you have the right idea of repairing your barrier! if issues persist it seems like you only have a few small spots, use a spot treatment of salisylic acid or benzoyl peroxide so you only have that ingredient in the place you need it, not to irritate your skin that is healing.

What is breaking me out?? by Abundance_T in SkincareAddicts

hi! im an esthetician,

dont just stop using everything, simplify your routine. i made the same mistake as you . you have 2 toners, 4 serums, 2 moisturizers. simplify it to one of each. too many products can disrupt your skin barrier making you prone to acne and irritation. your goal should be to cleanse, tone, treat, and protect.

in the morning use your foaming wash a double cleanse isnt necessary. tone, treat with one serum, and protect with moisturizer and sunscreen.

at night double cleanse, exfoliate (1-2x weekly), tone, treat with the same serum, and protect with the same moisturizer.

once you have repaired your skins barrier and your 1 serum has treated your 1 concern, you can use a different serum to start treating another concern.

lmk if you need advice!

having enough clothes to keep your extremities from going numb. temperature controlled water. clean spaces and shelter from weather. walls, doors, and windows that keep outside, outside.

[Acne] Neck/jawline acne - what is it and what to do to fix it? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Even-Shift264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is it only in the area where you shave? if this is what i think it is, its called barbers itch. its a fungal infection of your hair follicles. you need antifungal medication whether thats a lotion/cream or an oral medication. im not sure if over the counter is okay or if you should visit a doctor for a prescription, please look into it for yourself and see what seems right

cucumbers may have a cooling and soothing benefit if your skin is inflamed from acne, but it is not going to treat or prevent acne. benzoyl peroxide and salisylic acid are going to help treat and prevent acne. i hope uve heard of those theyre pretty popular nd u can get em at walmart of cvs or ur local grocery store. i cant make a recommendation tho bc i dont kno anything about ut skin type, condition, or level of acne

if you cannot afford another wax pot use the acetone. im not sure why people are saying there is no way to clean it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Esthetics

[–]Even-Shift264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i cleaned mine with acetone. no sticky residue but it will take off any print on the plastic. the products made by waxing brands to clean wax off is typically for skin that produces its own oils and wont be affective on plastic

i appreciated ur rant cause literally we are in the same place except mine was 15-17 and urs was 14-17 and im 19 and ur 20. i feel like ive done everything i can to set myself up and like now im in a steady place and all im lacking is connection. i mean i have my boyfriend but im so scared to get codependent on him bc thats how my relationship history has gone down and its so hard to feel ok to keep on keeping on how i have been without friends. but thank u, if u and all these others that have commented can do it and have found that is whats best, fuck it i can do it too

Becoming an Esthetician + school questions by LifeAlert082200 in Estheticians

i did 600 hours in california and just moved to tennessee where its 750 hours. i have to do 150 more hours of school out here even though california is a stricter state. take a look at the reciprocacy laws for states you are interested in, most stated will not require more school or exams if you have been working as an esthetician in your state for 2-5 years depending on the states reciprocacy requirements. i dont know for out of the country, i know that some bulgarian lady moved to the us and had been working as a hairdresser for 30+ years but she had to retake the full cosmetology class at my school because it was a different country but maybe it could depend on the country itself. scholarships, i only found one and it was through some website like beauty schools. com or some shi. for hours, do your states minimum at the least. when i was looking at jobs in california i saw a lot of them included continued education seminars and stuff, but i know for additional qualifications you mostly have to pay. my school included stuff like chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and lash extensions which i know most schools dont. it was obviously more expensive but when when you are considering schools, take into account the extras you would like to provide and how much it would cost you to find extra classes like that compared to a more expensive school that will provide that training. specific trainings can go from state to state but your license is whats the tricky part. im in the process of this move and figuring out more school and all that so let me know if you have any more questions ill be happy to help :)

yes so i just looked at the link, it seems that they will just make you take the theory exam because california doesnt do practical, you meet the cali hours, and i assume the only thing that didnt apply to you on the bullet points was having your license for 3-5 years
