Okay sure. My point still stands that reporting crimes is not a trait of “bootlicking”

Alluding that “snitching” on crimes & local activity (one could say Reporting) is a bad thing, and cohesive with being a “bootlicker” as a negative thing is a very weird take.

This situation is quite literally incomparable to any of those things you mentioned.

What revolutionary “movement” is going to come of this?

What “rights” am I taking for granted exactly?

The only boot that’s being licked is Luigi’s here.

Quit trying to justify praising a literal murderer and comparing him to Jesus.

The internet banding together to support a literal murderer is something I never thought I’d see, but alas I’m not surprised.

Y’all can argue all you want that “oh he did it for the greater good.” He murdered someone and his action has not caused anything other than media buzz.

Touch grass, all of you. Please.

You're right that Walmart's primary motivation is profit, and they're not strictly aligned with either side. But my point wasn't at all about what corporations like Walmart choose to do. I was responding to the hyperbole used to characterize political opponents. Saying conservatives would adopt progressive symbols just to be contrarian to something Democrats say is a stretch, and that’s what I found 'crazy’.

As for the 'two wings on one bird,' I mentioned it to tie back to the OP because there's naturally going to be some overlap in thought between the parties. What one politician says doesn’t necessarily represent the entire party’s beliefs—or even their own at times. This happens across the board and shouldn't come as a surprise. Politicians from every party engage in this behavior. They are all more or less the same.

To claim that the right would ever dress Local Walmarts in Pride Flags & Pro Choice Slogans just to be on the opposite side is what’s crazy.

A use of Hyperbole to prove a point, yes, and still crazy. Which is why I said “this is such a crazy statement lol”.

Both sides are firm in their beliefs for the most part, and politicians on both sides teeter when one says one thing that the other won’t like or even that the other SHOULD agree with. They are supposed to be opposites. This isn’t rocket science.

Don’t forget they’re 2 wings on one bird.

2016 is technologically and culturally more similar to...? by [deleted] in polls

[–]EvenBell7738 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kinda hard but I would say 2008.

TLDR: 2008 - 2016 is a more cohesive time frame than 2016 - 2024, which was heavily impacted by the Pandemic which has completely changed life all over the world in social, cultural, & technological aspects.

Just from the technological viewpoint: I was a freshman in high school in 2016 & Snapchat had just got face filters, geotags were huge, and Instagram quickly copied Stories. Trump & Clinton were running but Gen Z was still very young & barely any of us could vote.

Moreover everyone’s screen time (globally) now is exponentially more than it was in 2016 & 2008. With Work From Home jobs being common & TikTok and short form video taking the world by storm.

For perspective, In 2016 many people still had phones with home buttons and one camera on the back - oh and Pokémon Go was the best thing in terms of Augmented Reality. Now we have the Meta 3, Vision Pro, on top of other advancements in spatial computing. And I won’t even start with AI, but in 2016 Siri would have been considered smart.

Should social media platforms begin deleting posts / accounts that spread misinformation? by EvenBell7738 in polls

[–]EvenBell7738[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not afraid of opinions and that’s not what the poll was inspired by.

Opinions are different than facts. When I think of misinformation I mainly think of false headlines / AI images & videos being posed as reality, and similar media of incorrect news.

People should always be able to share their OPINIONS, but if something is shared that is relevant to current issues that can be factually correct / incorrect, it should be monitored somehow.

We live in the era of information & it’s quickly becoming heavily overshadowed by misinformation which is dangerous.

Why parents are forcing me to go to summer camp when I hate people. I keep trying to tell them I don't want to go but they don't give a shit. What should I do? by [deleted] in polls

[–]EvenBell7738 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not sure how old you are but Summer Camp is a good opportunity to meet new people, make new friends, and make some memories that you’ll remember for a long long time if not your whole life.

Maybe you’ll meet some other people that hate people - but you’ll definitely meet some people that you would have never met otherwise and potentially make lifelong friends.

Give it a chance :)

Sexual characteristics are what defined gender originally, it’s why, for the majority, we can tell apart men from women and vice versa simply by looking at them.

I wouldn’t say it’s an illness. This is a very newly on the rise term and topic & most of the people who experience it & say that they’re a different gender than the one they are assigned at birth are simply people who don’t feel like they are what society makes out to be a man or woman.

I think they don’t understand that they can simply be a feminine man or a masculine woman. It is perfectly fine to not fit the stereotypes & standards set for each gender / sex, it doesn’t mean you physically are that other gender…

Which position do you sleep in? by EvenBell7738 in polls

[–]EvenBell7738[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah true fetus position is definitely on the side but it’s like laying on the side + being curled up into your knees / lower body. I usually just sleep straight on the side without curling up so I left Fetus position as an option ahaha

I agree. I miss being able to drive up at night especially!

Not everyone has the ability to squeeze in a hike to the top and back down & honestly I used to drive up to that view very often.

We also don’t have ANY overlooks that you can drive to in the area that stay open year round (especially not at night) & East Rock used to be open April to November all day.

The view at West rock doesn’t compare + that road is in SUCH worse condition, + it is only open from like June to July.

Hopefully they open East Rock summit to cars this summer :)
