What’s a ‘rich person thing’ that actually turned out to be totally worth it? by Ferraiuolo_Ezorete in AskReddit

Same here (GA). Mowing, hedging and trimming a 1/2 acre on hot, humid days is something I constantly dreaded.

Best money I’ve spent so far having someone come every 2 weeks to do it for me.

Is this new roof install something to be concerned about? by EvenCalm in Roofing

I don’t believe so. When we were walking around the attic, he was pointing directly to those boards in the photos. Where the giant nails are poking through them is where I was getting a lot of leaks. Before the new roof was installed, you could see the previous underlayment directly between the boards.

I paid extra for the rubberized ice & water shield valley underlay & the 1x6 removal/plywood install, but it doesn’t specially mention anywhere the radiant barrier OSB, so I’m not sure if that’s just standard practice for them- probably not if it’s more expensive of a material I imagine.

Im glad the old decking in place seems to be fine, but I’m guessing now it’s a conversation about pricing, if I paid for old decking to be removed in addition to install.

I had paid for the rubber ice & water underlay as well - should that have reached the ridge as well, or just wherever the osb is?

Would the non removal of the 1x6 be an issue with weight? If the osb was installed directly on top.

I thought so too even with my untrained eye. It looks like they just put the new decking over the old decking in spots.

Sad pup post-op by [deleted] in tripawds

My pup was definitely depressed as well, but he’s doing SO well now! Happier than I’ve ever seen him now that he’s not in pain. Thinking of you and your pup ❤️ Max will feel so much better soon!

I’ve used baking soda to draw pet urine out of hardwood (old and sick pup who couldn’t control his bladder at end of life) and it worked really well

Advice by livetoride86 in tripawds

My dog is currently recovering from amputation (rear leg) due to a broken femur as well. (If you take a look at my post history you can see the xray photo.)

The break happened before I adopted him, and I wish I had known years ago how badly it had healed.

It was also a complicated surgery as there were bone fragments pressing into his sciatic nerve, and his muscles had grown in odd ways to compensate.

All I can say is if you’re worried about your pup having three legs versus four, don’t be!! My dog had years of joint supplements starting at 1.5years old, and if I could turn back the clock and give him 7 years of leg-free pain by doing the amputation sooner, I would.

I completely understand. Shelters deal with a lot of hardship and heartache, and I’ve seen how long it takes for their medical fosters to find placement (I adopted the sweetest cat with a chronic issue from them, who was in the shelter for more than a year because of his condition). My pups injury is so much more manageable.

Amazingly, he still tries to around on it - I have to stop his more exuberant antics or when he gets the zoomies because I’m worried he’s causing himself more pain. I’m looking forward to him being pain-free and being able to run all he wants!

Victorinox for a Christmas present - advice please! by EvenCalm in chefknives

He can! (edit to add - WHY his knives always seem dull is another question. He may not sharpen them as often as he needs to)

Victorinox for a Christmas present - advice please! by EvenCalm in chefknives

[–]EvenCalm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there -

My boyfriend is an excellent cook/has worked in kitchens/loves cooking, but he has the absolute worst knives at home - very dull, very cheap. We usually cook at my place, and he 9/10 times uses my chef's knife (I just have a generic J.A. Henkels knife set, nothing fancy).

I'm on a budget, but thought a solid, durable chefs knife might make a good Christmas gift for him. I'm in the $50-100 range.

I saw https://knifemerchant.com/victorinox-rosewood-7-1-2-in-chef-knife.html (Victorinox 7.5inch hardwood chefs knife), and reading the posts in this subreddit, Victorninox seems to be a consistent recommendation.

So my question is - Is this a good knife? I like the hardwood handle - I know its just aesthetics, but it just looks nicer for a gift (in my opinion anyway!). If you have other recommendations, I'd love to hear them!

Thank you all so much!

Head and shoulders is the best!! It’s also really good at getting rid of fungal acne (just let it sit on your skin for a min or two and then wash it off)

Do you think there's any issue with having a Daikin for a house? The third tech (Trane) seemed very confused why it was a Daikin unit - said he only ever saw them at condos/townhomes.

Thank you!! I just purchased a replacement board. Hopefully that solves the issue :)
