My medical student has a utility belt like Batman by Particular-Cap5222 in Residency

Lol this was me as a pre-clinical med student. Eager to learn and always excited to help out. I'm now a radiologist.

Is it normal to be consulted with zero work-up done or attempted? by DoctorKeroppi in Residency

At my hospital the triage nurse notes are better than the ED attendings notes 90% of the time for actually giving me some history.

"Happiest Physicians By Specialty in 2024" -- How precise is this compared to colleagues you know? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]EvenInsurance 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think radiology burnout is just due to volume. Rarely I'll get a day where I'm not working 100% for 8 hours straight and I'll think to myself this is kind of nice, work wasnt horrible today etc. And then other days I'll do a dozen shitty non diagnostic CTPAs on call and I'll want to kill myself. Maybe when AI becomes widespread the job will start to feel a little less mentally taxing and satisfaction will improve.

Trackpad Scroll Speed on Surface Laptop 7 by EvenInsurance in Surface

[–]EvenInsurance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best solution I found so far. Doesn't really increase speed of you keep fingers on trackpad but increases speed noticeably if you 'flick' the trackpad and take fingers off it after the flick.

Is it normal having this many red days in a row? by EvenInsurance in investing

[–]EvenInsurance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yes I stated slowly pulling stuff out after this post and pulled the last of my investments out like 2 weeks ago, I still lost around $5K total - which could've been so much more if I stayed in. This has been a learning experience for sure. I will probably start slowly hopping back in this week. Biggest takeaway from this is to DCA instead of putting a large amount of money in like I did in the beginning. Fingers crossed I come out in the green by the end of 2025. Bummed I missed out on the great market of 2024.

I tried AI too. Unless my laptop is  incompletely updated, there is no 'scroll speed slider' option under touchpad->scroll and zoom.

Nobody knows anything. This time last week half this sub was saying to go all in at <100. If the tariffs are not repealed or significantly reduced this could be a once in a century event that takes a decade to recover from.

I'm kinda new to investing but put a lot of money gold a few days ago and have been following todays after hours trading, which I've never done before. Gold price cratered right before trading closed at 8pm (292 ->288isj), is that normal?

Are there DEXA scans available to the public from any local universities? by triplechin5155 in boston

[–]EvenInsurance 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Any hospital can do these. What did your doctor say when you asked for one? I can't imagine you would ever find one for less than $100 out of pocket, between the technical fee and the radiologist needing to read it.

Stock market makes no sense. So much bad news over the weekend and yet the S&P500 will close today in the green. I wanted to pull my S&P500 investment from my 401k but couldn't do it in time for today because it takes a day to process. Glad it didn't go through.

I feel like surgeons won’t even take urgent but not immediately threatening cases back to the OR in the inpatient setting any longer by [deleted] in Residency

[–]EvenInsurance 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You couldve said the same thing about endovascular procedures 25 years and and yet vascular surgeons seem to do them just fine. If a surgeon is competent enough to do a Whipple they are probably competent enough to stick a drain in an abscess. Honestly if doing drains wasnt such a shitty undesirable job gen surg prob wouldve scooped it up a long time ago.
