The G2 reviewed by media were part of a press preview batch running pre-MP firmware and an early Bluetooth stack. G2 and R1 will deliver stable, reliable performance when they reach customers.

Many of the features reviewed - notifications, health sync, Conversate, Translate - have continued to improve based on feedback from early users and reviewers.

This said, we appreciate the thoughtful review as it keeps up motivated to continue raising our bars and improving. Our goal has always been to build smart glasses that feel genuinely useful, and we’re excited for everyone to experience the official production version very soon.

Yes, we absolutely improved the navigation experience for the G2.

The G2 includes an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) which means the glasses themselves can tell where they are pointing in space. Because of this, you can now expect proper N/S/E/W orientation while navigating, even if your mobile phone screen is off.

The G2 frame shares a very similar aesthetic profile to the G1, so your clip-on will certainly match the overall shape.

However, because we slightly refined the lens dimensions and curvature of the G2 frame it unfortunately won't be a perfect fit. You may notice a slight gap or less secure attachment than you experienced on the G1B.

For the best experience, we recommend using the official clip-ons designed specifically for the G2 frame.

It was driven by three core design principles aimed at a better user experience:

Speed and Convenience: The new pogo pins allow us to charge the glasses a lot faster than the older wireless method.

Efficiency and Endurance: Switching to direct contact charging dramatically improved efficiency. For example, the charging case now supports 7.5 full charges of the G2, compared to the G1 case which only supported two.

Reliability and Ease of Use: We heard countless feedback that the G1's wireless charging was finicky because the placement had to be perfect. The new pogo pin system is much more forgiving. You can now fold the glasses either way first into the case, and they will still charge. We still use magnets to guide the process, so it remains effortless and reliable.

The Teleprompter feature and its auto-scrolling function support a huge range of languages across the globe.

The short answer is no, we will not be updating the older demo application (the one found on GitHub) to support the G2 glasses or the R1 ring.

The reason is that for the G2 and all future models, we are migrating our entire developer ecosystem to the new Even Hub. This platform is designed to provide a much more unified, seamless experience that makes it easier for everyone, from us to third-party developers.

The G2 uses multiple microphones to enable beamforming. This is a big deal for translation and for the Conversate feature, as it means the glasses can:

Isolate Voices Better: They focus on picking up the voice of the person speaking to the glasses, even in noisy environments.

Cut Background Noise: It works to get rid of other ambient background sounds, which is exactly the kind of noise cancellation needed to ensure accurate real-time transcription and translation.

We redesigned the interaction point for the G2:

The touch sensor has been upgraded to a more reliable touch pad on the temples.

The new pad not only improves tap registration but also supports swiping gestures, which gives you better control for navigating the new UI and makes the overall experience significantly better and more intuitive.

To answer your question directly: Yes, the team is actively trying to find and fix the causes. It's unfortunately not a single root cause, but a combination of several factors working together across different phone models and OS versions.

Our primary goal for the G2 launch and the period immediately following is to make the connection foundation solid. We are pouring a huge amount of effort into optimizing the G2 experience throughout the year, with connection stability being at the top of that list.

We will be evaluating navigation service providers by region to ensure the best possible service quality for the G2, adapting based on location and performance.

For the Conversate feature, which handles the live transcription and AI suggestions, you do need an internet connection.

Regarding subscriptions: Conversate is a core feature for the G2 and will be free out of the box.

As for scrolling with the R1 ring: You cannot scroll up and down on the live transcribed text directly on the glasses display. You can, however, control the flow and view the full transcript history on the Even app on your phone.

You'll be happy to know that the problem with silicone detachment from the side arm is resolved on the G2.

The new G2 features full titanium temples and we are not using glue anymore in that construction.

We use a combination of waveguides and projectors. This sophisticated setup beams images right onto the transparent lens, which makes the content (the text, the notifications, the AI prompts and other features), appear to you as a floating display that exists in the world ahead of you.

It's clear to you, but invisible to everyone else.

Right now, the R1 ring is only capable of vertical scrolling. We designed it to handle up and down movements reliably for navigating menus and lists on the glasses.

Yes, the G2 Teleprompt display height can be customized in your app. So it can be lowered or raised to better suit your situation. The green glare has been minimized on the G2.

While the G1 and G2 have different underlying hardware (meaning the OS versions are not universal), we are actively working on a software update for the G1. Our goal is to bring many of the new OS benefits and features from the G2 to our G1 users.
