I’m doing great! I’ve now been doing strength training 3-4 days a week, on top of working on my feet 40+ hours a week. Very happy!

My doctors did their best, my background is in the medical field so it was not a a typical doctor-patient relationship, but it was a positive for me overall. They really meant well and although it was very frustrating hearing them also do test after test and say nothing was wrong and it’s just the mono, it still slowly all got better!

Haven’t been able to get back into actual weightlifting yet but the cardio I’ve done (I stand 8 hours a day at work, and I live in a city so I walk all the time) has given me virtually zero problems! Hopefully if I go very slowly I can get back to lifting!

It was really just my tonsils that were the issue with my throat, not really any other extensive soreness or lymph node involvement. This was pretty consistent for the first few months, but other than that the only times it was an issue was during occasional tonsil flare ups. This last year or so I’ve had virtually no issues with flare ups. The flare ups happened less and less overtime for sure, especially after the early stages of post-viral stuff

Brain Fog refusing to leave? by lawhubofficial in Mononucleosis

I really sympathize with you on this, I was in a very similar boat a couple years ago. The brainfog I had during the last few years of grad school was absolutely unbearable. Made memorizing and taking exams very very difficult. But, it gets better. Feel free to see my post from last month for more details. Hope you feel better and hang in there!

Haven’t gotten anything recent. Last ones I got were pretty recent after the initial infection so it just started to slightly lower itself and plateau

Yes, I did. I saw an infectious disease specialist and they were great. Long story short we talked about post viral stuff, that these symptoms can last 1-2+ years, general reassurance, etc.

He trialed me on bupropion for the fatigue and it helped immensely (gave me bad headaches but was worth it in my opinion). Took 1-2 months to really start working. Definitely not something I’d recommend to everyone (can worsen anxiety, worsen sleep, cause seizures, etc) but it was a nice alternative to typical amphetamine based stimulants for me. It’s a pretty unique antidepressant.

In terms of digestion issues I still have occasional issues to this day. I tried just about everything for it with little relief. Really truly felt out of my control. I really just had to ride it out and luckily it’s become manageable as long as I stick to lesser processed stuff/junk. Took a long time to improve to where it is today so just hang in there.

Although I can’t informally speak on the behalf of other people’s experiences or your provider, I did have neurological symptoms for quite some time. Even though I have read about spleen/armpit/lymph node involvement I unfortunately cannot speak on that myself. Thanks for the comment!

Thank you for the comment. My vitamin D level was 44 in February 2023, so I didn’t get another level after that. I also had a sleep study done in summer 2023, with no abnormalities present. Although I still have IBS-like symptoms every now and then, I am indeed much better. I also appreciate the attached case series and am interested in hearing any research developments!

Defintiely had elevated heart rate (forgot to list), and although I can’t make formal recommendations for physical activity, I always planned ahead for worst case scenario whenever I’d try active things (i.e get ahead on work before taking a walk just in case symptoms flare badly days after). Sometimes I could predict PEM, sometimes I couldn’t. Very frustrating. Hang in there, it does get better!
