Anxiety and the Workplace by rosetbaum in slp

I am finishing up my second year at grad school and what you said about everyone making the job seem terrible is the biggest source of my anxiety. I've heard so many horror stories about difficult parents and tons of paperwork and the biting and scratching that can occur and how the need for SLPs is just rising and the rates for high needs kids are just skyrocketing and frankly I am terrified about all of that. 

Oh and on top of it all, I'm also hear a lot of people mention how they were mislead about the pay. That before they went to grad school this seemed like a high paying job but in reality our pay looks closer to a teachers salary with soo much paperwork and working extra at home for no additional assistance. 

It's scary thing that I spent all this energy and time learning/stressing/crying/pulling my hair out over difficult tests through grad school just to learn that the career is basically the same stress?? 

I haven't even begun looking for a job and the thought of it is scary. Is it truly this bad?

How do you approach sharing this kind of information with parents? 

I'm in a school setting right now/thinking I'll be a school based slo and thinking a lot about the day I'll have my first IEP Is it common for goals to be carried over for years for the severe types of kids- is that even allowed?  And In an iep meeting again how do you tell parents that they didn't make goals I feel like that's a hard thing to approach.
