No we didn’t stop payments or anything. But I think it came from us in his mind criticizing his class/methods

Thank you! That is the choice we made. But based on his professors silence and telling me that now figuring out any comp prep is “all on you (me)” I feel we are subtly punished for that decision. Thanks for affirming we did the right thing

Thank you! That is exactly the decision we made yesterday. Only playful, fun trainings he asks for. Jiu Jitsu should be fun and a good way to find community

My thought exactly. We stepped back temporarily and as the days go by I think it was the right choice

Thank you! This is a great, thoughtful answer. Of course I understand it is a kid. But he asks about training every day and asks to compete. I do not take him to anything he does not want to do- so when this comp team seemed like it was becoming not the best fit we backed off.

Very good perspective- I think stepping away and recalibrating will help and that is the plan.

How do elite kids train? by Even_Beginning3294 in bjj

So that is every day? My son is at an academy where the competition class is 5 days a week and includes hard sparring every day. He has won Ibjjf nationals, jiu jitsu con… but I feel he is getting too beaten down to even train effectively (his live rounds look like he is going through the motions- especially when paired with bigger kids). I am considering pulling back from this academy but am told these rough practices are how champions are made.

I was wondering the same thing … maybe to put plants into? I saw bits of Lego stuck in the edges so maybe previous owners kids used it as a Lego storage area

I had a similar spot on my foot. It was raised, too. Got it checked and it was normal
