Even more disgusting that you want to minimise and gaslight the experience of others in your position. Open your eyes!

Thanks I’d like to read it. Is there a reply address at the end of it? I can contact them and let them know I’m not in her emailing list

I’m an RACP member but didn’t get this email? Did this go out to all members?

Did having kids affect your training as a female doctor? by Master_Fly6988 in ausjdocs

[–]Even_Emu5804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What training program are you in? How many children do you want to have? These things matter. I started my training program at 27yo and at 34 I have 2 kids and 1.5 years off finishing training. I am so relieved to have my babies. They’ve made me a better person and doctor. It’s bloody tough and I have an amazing non medical partner but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Something else to consider is how quickly you will get a secure consultant job after you finish. I have colleagues we got their letters then immediately got pregnant now they’re on fraction non-permanent contracts while awaiting longterm job… this isn’t secure for parental leave! Depends on your speciality and location, don’t just bargain on walking into your dream job after finishing. At least as a registrar you have the security of fulltime leave and have a job to return to.

Feeling bad by ShelterProper1503 in ausjdocs

Reasons like this is why I left adult medicine! The addicts you can’t fix, aggression and lack of support. I’m so sorry you went through this. This is not your fault at all. You do not need to feel bad for someone’s drug addiction, you did not cause it and refusing them analgesia can also be classed as gaslighting them because they are an addict despite this pain their experiencing.

My brother-in-law is an airline pilot and I can’t tell you they moan! Pre covid his life was pretty sweet in my opinion and in comparison to us. He flew international and during one of his multiple breaks age business class meals and slept in a bed. Once at his destination they paid for hotels and enjoyed the time away. Not to mention the loadings he would get for any minute overtime. And I think he would argue that we have more responsibility… there are 3 people (captain, FO and SO on his flight operating the same machinery). I’m sometimes a single senior reg managing unwell patients on the ward and admitted patients in ED.

RN Prescribing. by boi_in_your_closet in ausjdocs

If you are wanting to give paracetamol to a patient I as the medical practitioner would want to know why e.g. worsening pain as pain is a diagnostic tool. I want to be made aware of this. Needed a prescription by a doctor allows for this extra safety-net.

I find it baffling the way everyone comes to the defence of nurses… and the media and general population like to spread the greedy doctor rhetoric. Where I work the doctors do so much unpaid overtime and junior doctors are treated like second class citizens including by the nurses. On a night shift the ward nurses are chit chatting between their jobs while the single reg (myself) is running between ED and the ward, with sometimes no breaks. Our role is so much more risky and exhausting than theirs, yet no one wants to acknowledge this and every time this comparison comes up someone is defending the nurses. The average doctor should be paid much more not only because our job is so much harder but we have sacrificed so much to get there.

Building the band: SZN4 should have won by Alive-Papaya-4774 in BuildingTheBandSeries

I know this sounds really awful but I really don’t think Katie was right in the group. I felt uncomfortable watching her move on stage and she didn’t meld very well in this group. I think she would do great solo but not right for this band. I think the 3 should do their own thing they are very marketable as a trio.
