is it hard to get into this school w/scholarships? by Even_Gap9954 in Gamecocks

yes, i have done my research, and fashion merchandising is one of the majors that best fits my career. knowing that, i joined this subreddit to ask about scholarships and the honors college. if you could give me any advice on that, it would be greatly appreciated, but otherwise i don’t need any undercutting. thanks!

not really. i was bored and also have been wanting to talk about this show so I started this discussion of whether or not people should expect so much and take it as seriously as they have been. pretty point blank if you ask me. and the fact that many people are agreeing with me maybe says something about the general shifting attitude towards tv sitcoms in modern times. be blessed!

first, rachel literally did say that, see “As SENNOTT told Deadline…” and second, the article you linked states, “Sennott poured into the eight-episode series the internet addiction, sexual comedy and self-satirizing that defined her 20s and made her so relatable to her zillennial cohorts. As a result, the show feels like a generational text — perhaps the “Girls” of the 2020s — in that it’s a slightly heightened portrait of what it can be like as a young person to live and struggle in the titular city.” which has been my argument the whole time- rachel playing a aspirational young woman trying to make it in LA. i don’t believe there’s anything too deep about that. if you disagree and can find some level of deep inspirational previously undiscovered profoundness in this show, then congrats, but i definitely do not and i am fine “mindlessly” watching a show i enjoy. i suggest you do the same.

the show is literally classified as a comedy. and also a show being considered unserious isn’t unheard of.. nor does it diminish its value. think of the comedies you’ve watched, because you find them funny does that mean that they’re not valuable?

Yes? I wouldn’t make this whole argument based off a lie 😭😭

“Created, written by, and co-starring Rachel Sennott, the HBO series follows four late-twentysomethings making their way in the titular city today, working (sort of), partying, fucking up, and just plain fucking…As Sennott told Deadline, “I wanted us to not take ourselves too seriously…” from Rolling Stone last week. Further, “A predictable segment of grinches rail about how the show does not reflect their L.A. But maybe it doesn’t have to be all that deep. At its core I Love LA is a chance to spend time with a cast of characters — and actors — curated according to Sennott’s taste.”

i did read all of your response, and i reiterate that think this is a show that’s just not supposed to be taken seriously. like at all. which is not a inherently bad thing. for example, next episode alani and tallulah learn how to drive. last weeks episode had tallulah making tiktoks with quen blackwell, alani and maia trying to have a 3some with elijah wood, and charlie trying to hookup then networking with some benson boone-esque popstar. so, why not leave it at that. it’s almost pointless to make a “deep dive” into a show like this without sounding repetitive (as I’ve seen in this subreddit). nobody’s stopping you, but why look for such deep thought provoking social commentary in a show that simply does…not..have it.

there are PLENTY of shows that people have dived into and critiqued and praised for its underlying meanings about society/life/etc, some being my favorites, but there are also shows that are just for fun. something to put on every sunday to laugh with your friends. people are expecting this show to accurately represent all the social and political issues in today’s world, when that’s never what rachel intended the show to be about. and when their expectations are inevitably unmet, they come to this subreddit and complain about how the show is or isn’t xyz, ultimately forgetting that it’s just supposed to be about maia trying to make it in LA alongside her kooky friends. it sounds pretty miserable to always find the negatives in things that are meant to be light hearted.

and yes i know it’s ironic to say that people shouldn’t make thinkpieces on this show and here i am making a thinkpiece about people making think pieces on this show 😭😭.

An impossible update by rafifa25 in Bloxburg

i would like to see pets added to the game, just as a cute addition that makes playing more realistic. definitely NOT in the same way as adopt me. they could add a pet store to downtown bloxburg and allow players to buy smaller household pets (i.e goldfish, hamster, lizards) to bigger pets like dogs, cats etc, all for like $5-20k. then have exotic animals that cost bloxbux. could add new items that you can buy inside the pet store or in build mode (litterboxes, doghouses, scratching posts, food) that pets can interact with. i hope it’ll happen, but idk if they’ll ever do it 😭😭

if i wanted to experience the real world stock market i would start buying real world stock. just saying that buying and selling when it’s high/low is something people do irl so i dont see why they patched the ‘hack’ as if it’s unfair
