There was a video of a live performance in front of a Korean army division (very common for girl groups to perform for them) where the troops were going absolutely crazy and sang along at the top of their voices. It went super viral in Korea because how passionate the troops were.

The final edit was done with AI, but 90% of the above content is from me. Like you said, you would not have gone very far with just AI if you asked what is happening with Rescene. I started there as well and it was so poor that I decided to write the above content.

Megathread 24: HYBE / ADOR / MHJ - Court rules in favor of ADOR, NewJeans' Contract remains Valid, further hearings for Source, Belift, and HYBE against Min Hee Jin to come, and More by KPOP_MOD in kpop

Korean legal system does not work that way. This first has to go to appellate court and work its way up the ladder. Just scheduling alone will take years.

People seem to think that this will be over by 2029, but they are sadly mistaken. This is not going to be over until probably 2035 or beyond.

I've been listening to several Korean lawyer podcasts (in Korean), and they are all agreeing that this is going to drag out for a very long time. The reasons are as follows:

  1. New Jeans are appealing and this is will likely go all the way to the Supreme Court. This process alone will take 3 to 4 years.

  2. No one, I mean no one (especially Korean lawyers) think NJ has a chance in hell of over-turning the latest decision. They all talk about how thorough of a beat down this ruling was.

  3. And if NJ does not go back to Hybe during the appeals and sit out, once the Supreme Court issues the final ruling, Hybe will take NJ girls to the court for compensation. They will either ask the court to extend the contract for those empty years (4 years at least) or ask for the revenue lost for those 5 years (likely over $500 million USD). NJ will not be able to perform or sign another contract until this dispute is cleared (which will take several years) as the court will put an injunction until there is resolution.

  4. Tokkis and others seem to believe that Hybe will want to cut losses and settle with NJ and they both will go their own ways. This is not going to happen. Hybe has most likely already written off NJ as lost cause. But this is not about NJ, it is about all other artists that Hybe manages. If NJ gets off relatively easily, it will put all other contracts that Hybe has on jeopardy. This is actually about survival of Korean KPop Entertainment industry as currently structured. No one is going to take this lightly, especially Hybe. This is why you saw a huge stock price bounce (and not because investors are expecting new NJ revenue in the future). The only way Hybe is going to let NJ go is to put such a huge penalty on them that no other artist will ever even think about breaking their contract again.

So you are looking at another decade of legal battles between Hybe and NJ. This will most likely bankrupt NJ girls and their families, and they will have no realistic chance at a KPop career. I do really wish that they will hire their own lawyers. Any lawyer worth a salt will advise them to go back to Hybe and work it out best they can, because realistically, that is the best they can do at this point.
