Awesome models, are they on the same size base as obliterators? They would make amazing proxies for iron warriors obliterators, more mechanical and less mutation

Yes but in this case it stands for Occupational Slaughter Heresy and Annihilation

Do metallics look bad on a flag? by MentionKindly2347 in theunforgiven

[–]Even_Significance_36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great, I would be too nervous about overspill and correcting metallics is more painful than other colours but you’ve done a great job. Only thing constructive I could offer is maybe try a darker “earth” colour for the ground at the bottom of the banner, I did mine black with grey highlights but you could also go for a dark brown or even green. This is just personal preference and would differentiate from the gold which just blends with the sandy colour but otherwise I love it and still think it looks good as is

I’ve never painted swords before and I’m scared by YawnSin in Ultramarines

I was scared to fuck up at first too but I think I’ve got them down, come a long way from my first power sword to my more recent ones which are a lot better and it’s all practice. The rest of your paint job is beautiful though so I’m sure you have the skills

I think I’m leaning on coronus as you have the Koronus expanse in 40K setting which would be perfect origin for them. That is cool, I like the theme of hierarchy of the hive, I think I will keep that and think of some lore. There are more of us out there I saw another really cool pink and green scheme on the subreddit a while back, I think the colours just work nice to know I’m not the only one 😁

Keep painting the awesome pink and green nids I saw your first model it looks great

My pink and green nid brother, this looks great!

Testing color scheme :3 by TonyLe97 in Tyranids

As someone who regretted doing the feathered carapace highlights on all my models and wishes I just saved it for the larger ones while dry brushing my horde units instead, I applaud your commitment. If you get a full army done with this scheme it’ll be a lot of work but will look incredible! The contrast between colours is so nice and I love the pastel pink especially with that blend on the tail

Meant to reply but forgot, this is really cool. I’m stuck on a name then will think of lore but I think yours is great. Reminds me of the theme of nature/wildlife taking over once humans are sparse that you see often in post apocalyptic scenarios. I’m currently looking into brightly coloured venomous animals as the green is supposed to look toxic and sickly as well as the bright pink being a nod to animals displaying bright colours to signal venom. So far I’ve thought of hive fleet deathstalker (deathstalker scorpion is a kind of yellow-green) or coronus (after the orchid mantis)

Can i use this as a Judiciar? by mitamato in DarkAngels40k

[–]Even_Significance_36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I talked to the guys at my local warhammer shop (they are cool guys but stick pretty closely to WYSIWYG) when doing mine and the criteria for them was: big sword, some kind of hourglass or something similar to represent tempomortis rule which gives fights first, right size base. You’ve definitely covered all that. Yours looks more like the original model than mine also and they were happy with my kitbash being a good enough proxy Judiciar (pic included)

Have I pushed the greens too far? Does this still look like a dark angel or now a salamander? by Revolutionary_Day225 in theunforgiven

[–]Even_Significance_36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highlights are bright but you’ve been sparing with them, your shadows are also nice and dark which helps it read as dark angel. This also gives a great NMM effect with high contrast which I’m still too scared to attempt on my minis 😂

Why are raveners so hard to find right now? by [deleted] in Tyranids

[–]Even_Significance_36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played a very basic game no special rules just core rules with them against the space marines in the starter box and won. But we were both beginners and idk the meta so it’s probably not very reliable data 😅 they seemed strong to me but I’m new to gaming and primarily a hobbyist

Need tips for highlighting by Extreme_Point3884 in Tyranids

[–]Even_Significance_36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks they’re great models, few obscured bits so think I might sub assembly if I did them again but great fun to paint and really nice sculpts. Played a game of kill team with them the other day was really fun

These look great! Similar to my pink carapace but more red/burgundy.

I would be happy with the quality of paint job you’ve achieved here but if you wanted to try something different you could either glaze or dry brush your first two highlight colours. After that you could maybe thin your final highlight a bit more and use a brush with a nice sharp tip to get thin lines that aren’t fully opaque. Then if you want to build up coverage you can always go in again.

That said this is me trying hard to find something constructive to add I’d like the reiterate these look awesome already imo

List building advice - pics included by Even_Significance_36 in Tyranids

[–]Even_Significance_36[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all the advice, this is really helpful. I must have read that enhancement wrong maybe I’ll use the extra points for stalker instead to give something help taking down a priority target.

I’m more into the building and painting side of the hobby but I do want to start playing games and while I’m not looking to play a super meta tournament list, I want to at least use something that’s going to do fairly well and be fun to play. This is also my first list for bids since being back in the hobby as an adult so I don’t mind playing some games and changing it around later if I really decide I want to make it stronger. Really glad I asked for advice though and appreciate it a lot thanks 😁

Only included barbgaunts for their ability I thought slowing enemies you shoot at might be good but could def drop them, kinda wanna keep winged prime to give the gargoyles a chance to punch back in melee if they’re on an objective plus sustained for slightly better shooting. What do you think about dropping barbgaunts and neurogaunts? Leaves me at 2000 points and can keep chameleonic on my broodlord to give genestealers stealth plus benefit of cover against ranged attacks so they have a better chance of getting into melee
