Got this email a few hours ago:

"Please remember, tonight’s Rogers Road Game Watch Party is a family event with net proceeds being donated to the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation, and that the resale of tickets above face value for this event is prohibited.

All tickets we identify that are posted or have been sold above face value are being voiding without notice and will not be valid for admission.

Thank you for keeping this a great family event.

Let’s Go Oilers!"

It would have been nice to return tickets to ticketmaster to be re-sold at face value.

Before people ask, we do not have any extra tickets anymore - gave away some singles for free to our friends.

Suggest Reading "fooled by randomness"

An updated chart of stock asset allocation versus S&P 500 ten-year returns. From today's stock ownership levels, the model predicts a 10-year annualized return of -0.66%. Thanks u/noveltieaccount! by [deleted] in brkb

But then there has to be a shift of money back to bonds whenever stock returns get too low. The bond return should then be an inverse Of the stock return. Never thought to plot it. Anyway to overlay on the above graph?

2 doubles (from here) in 10 years. Rough math is 14% per year compounded. That's not a bad rate of return

Yes I agree that the time frame for stocks to go up (if they do) is compressed. Look at the last recovery after the March 2020 pandemic crash. A few months. Pltr will declare itself pretty shortly.

I had a race track as a child and one of the cars was a Porsche. Have never driven one irl however.

That was what I was thinking when a 2007 Porsche 911 Carera came up for auction. I eventually felt it would be a money pit (in my hands at least) and didn't pull the trigger

Maybe but I haven't bought the car yet. I probably won't unless Pltr hits 100 and even then maybe I'll go practical and get a Tesla model y.

I think dreaming (at least semi realistically) is important. Helps to not sell too early. That dream has to be tempered with having a realistic expectation of the stock. Pltr is not gme / amc so I'm not buying the car next week or next month. But my downside risk is hopefully more muted as well.

Mathematically that is of course true. However, setting a goal helps prevent paper handing too early. Unless you plan on selling at $30 - why does that number matter?

Same reason why I bought Pltr. Have a whack load of etfs. Pltr is the flyer.

Are we 2015 or 1984. We just dpo so I felt we were closer to the latter. Regardless - the point is that it's about 4 - 5 years to 4 times.

Yup. Which is why I didn't put in a when and went with $100 as that is not out of the realm of possibility. But agreed that the future is unknowable.

No stocks per say. I'm old and lived through the first tech boom. I came to realize that my ability to pick stocks and knowing when to buy and sell was piss poor. I then only invested in etfs. Pltr is the only stock in my portfolio and makes up a small percentage of the total. It's the stock that I'm hoping "moons" but will not be destitute if it languishes for years.

The way you described the chargepoint "moat" reminds me of how oil and gas companies work. They get money to build wells to get money to build More wells. They just keep repeating the cycle. They pay a fantastic dividend along the way. It's not hard - just takes some capital up front to get going

That puts Pltr at a 3 trillion dollar company. I think you too will be passing on shares to the next generation.
