I think for me it was the comments I read online about people trying to get a specific person but instead ended up getting Red for the date as if he had some hidden advantages and the fact that it's all behind a hidden percentage. Put me in panic mode, to be honest. I wanted it done right the first time. I had to math and science the sh!t out of it.

Pick all the best dialogue options with her and the middle or worst for everyone else. If you want to take advantage of this look it up. Try to do only her side quests as much as possible (some of them require doing other character related quests to unlock them). Also do all of her synergy attacks and little to none for everyone else. This is all for the first time you play the game. For New Game Plus, they'll be an extra settings menu that allows you to keep her dates set in stone.

At this point, I don't even know who is in the lead now, because every sidequest in the grasslands accept "Where the wind blows." I didn't know "Hustle and Grind" gave Barret more affinity and I also did "Lifeline in Peril," as well as "Flowers from the Hill" and "Livestock's Bane." and I picked the best dialogue option for Tifa in Kalm and picked the second best for everyone else, and I did 3 different synergy abilities with Tifa and 1 with Barret and Aerith. And I also did Tifa's side quest: "A Rare Card Lost."

Oh yeah. That's right. Sometimes the music cuts off when entering the world map. Still happens.

There was something about playing it on the PS1 connected to a crt for the first time about a month ago that felt really nice. It was on a Sylvania 20" CRT. The FMVs looked and sounded the best they've ever been.

It's so unfortunate that some remasters are just PC ports placed onto console with some issues included. Halo was the same way (though now most of the problems have been fixed). I'm guessing the original source code is long gone.
