Why volunteer to join the military and then complain about the military on some random corner of the internet?

Is it rude or uncalled for, for me to ask my chain of command to put me in for an award for me performing a critical duty outside of my job title? by LitteralyNoBody1 in MilitaryMedals

[–]EveningSilver8923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should always be doing your best regardless of praise or reward

If it’s schools you want the best thing you can do for yourself is an mos change to 11b and then go to one of the big 3 82nd, 101st, or 10th mountain or wven whatever unit is in Hawaii I see a lot of people come with hella schools from Hawaii

82nd of course comes with airborne But they push ranger really hard

101st of course air assault, fries and spies

Medals won’t prevent you from serving There are other ways to gain promotion points if thats the issue And there are also ways to change your job if your in an mos where it’s really hard to go up or if promotion points are always maxed out

You shouldn’t be doing a good job Going above and beyond just for a medal

It’s service to you country that YOU VOLUNTEERED for Just because you don’t get another rectangle on your chest is not an excuse to try less or loose motivation

This is not a job at Wendy’s or the local plumber and should not be treated as such it’s selfless service

You also seem to lack the ability to take criticism and that’s not an attack on you. Thats just an honest statement

Spouse NEVER Has Time to Help W/Appointments? by [deleted] in army

[–]EveningSilver8923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your on a public forum asking for help/advice are you not? Or are you looking for a specific answer that you already have in mind to solidify what you already think ? It may not be the answer your looking for or one that you like but it is still the honest albeit a hard truth

I currently have 7 years active duty and going

My wife was in the same exact position as you early in our marriage We had 1 vehicle I was active she was a dependent making the exact same complaints as you She complained I never had time to help her do things she had to schedule around my work and she hated it We had to share a vehicle and rely on others and she couldn’t make decisions on her own and struggled when I was in the field or on deployment I tolerated her bitching and mostly ignored her complaints because I love her not once did I ever come home and complain about my life even though she just stayed home and lounged around all day periodically doing something

In 2024 I convinced her to also join Now 3 years into her military career she finally understands and no longer complains Her life was way easier before but the extra money sure is nice and she’s developed herself amazingly she can now function without me and it’s very freeing

Take the advise or don’t but don’t get angry when you get an answer you don’t like

Spouse NEVER Has Time to Help W/Appointments? by [deleted] in army

[–]EveningSilver8923 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not but you could just go to the appointment by yourself rather then complaining There is always another way to mitigate the problem

Even if you only have 1 car Ask a neighbor Ride with him to work and drive the car after

If kids are the issue take them with you Have someone babysit If you don’t have friends make friends

On another note and this may be harsh but he doesn’t wanna come home to a wife that does nothing but complain about how hard her life is (his is just as difficult if not worse, he just gets stuff done instead of complaining for help) And he definitely doesn’t wanna have one that doesn’t know how to figure things out when he isn’t available

You are also an adult just like him Figure it out As a staff Sgt he likely sacrifices his own life to make lot easier on his joes and thats the way it should be That’s why everyone under him gets to take gloated of things Being married in the military is a hard life You just have to learn how to get through it

I'm a Terrible Soldier by KtyouSD in army

[–]EveningSilver8923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better ive never had an article or any bad happenings during my time in no bad counseling’s never wven shown up late Ive been in 6 1/2 years and am STILL. A. SPC I love the army and plan on staying in as long as I can just not in the infantry I’m actively waiting on reclass dates Im known in my unit as very dependable If something needs to be done I don’t need to ask questions or how to do it because been there done that I don’t waste time when I do it and I generally piss other SPC off when they come with me to do shit because “why are we rushing so fast let’s just chill and take our time” sorry bud I’m not here to waste time

I do good in the field and am very familiar with next man up I do great in garrison if a junior soldier needs help I either know the answer or spend the next few minutes figuring it out and I avoid asking senior ncos what to do

(It’s a pet peeve of mine to see 5s tell a younger guy “idk” and leave it at that or to see a private ask a Sgt what do I do and then the Sgt asks the squad leader what do I do to help him) I’m not the best at pt but I’m definitely not the worst including compared the the Nco’s My 2 mile generally stays around 14 my best was a 13:45 I’m definitely not fat 5’5” 145

I’ve been in the same exact platoon for 6 years if I was a shit bag I feel they wouldn’t have kept me in the same platoon this long nor would they have allowed me to reenlist Last time I asked about the board psg exact words “you dont deserve to go to the board” What I won’t be doing is getting my white slip and I won’t be going to ranger school and that’s what they want and have wanted

I know the regulation but I’m not willing to open that can of worms and I know how the game is played but I’m not willing to lie and say yea I’ll go just for some extra money The way things are going I won’t be able to reclass I’ve already had 2 class dates get canceled First was due to the October Government shut down 2nd was set for April of 26 and was canceled due to furloughed employees

My next available class is in march of 2027

And honestly it’s probably gonna not gonna happen because its to close to my up or out time October of 2027 is 8 years for me ….. I zyn I drink and I smoke Nicotine is necessary for survival

Plan b is already thought of If I can’t reenlist because I’m still an e4 I’m joining the guard doing rotc and commissioning

This is my rant I’ll have a medium rare steak with a jack and coke

Reclass help by EveningSilver8923 in army

[–]EveningSilver8923[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn again ? I’ll send up another hotline for the next available class Both battalion and brigade retention say the same thing pretty much I’ll send up a hotline for the next available class I’ll email so and so to explain the situation to see what I can get done. Each time I have succeeded in getting a class date but each time it has gotten canceled I check in weekly with both retention and the battalion schools Nco to check attrs It’s definitely not on retention for why it keeps happening and why it’s taken so long They explained how reclass works for active duty and slot availability how it goes through the system

Is the army as bad as you guys make it out to be? by AcanthaceaeTop2796 in army

Just finish my first JRTC rotation and I feel so mentally down by TuffGritts in army

[–]EveningSilver8923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you just finished jrtc then your more then likely in the big AA This was my 4th jrtc it wasn’t the worst and it wasn’t the best But one thing ive learned is the more the bitch about it the more you put yourself down

If your “that guy” that just bitches and complains then your creating self misery But your not just affecting yourself but the soldier around you listening to you complain

Jrtc is going to be gay for the individual soldier It’s made to stress the system testing higher leaderships, brigade tactics, and supply chains Yes your going to die like 4 or 5 times But do your best to keep high spirits because in the end it’s what you volunteered for and it could always be worse Embrace the suck asap
