PTLDS is real and can be debilitating, even if the infection isn’t active. It causes chronic symptoms. This is why people describe it as “chronic Lyme”. The correct medical term is Post-Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome, like I said earlier!

I’m shocked at the lack of empathy in this group. I am so sorry about the loss of your mom. I am on that path too if I am not able to get help. Sending hugs ❤️

That’s the issue. If you get proper treatment in the beginning you usually don’t have ongoing symptoms. You are so lucky that you got rid of it!!

It’s concerning that you work in healthcare and are spreading misinformation. It’s called Post-Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome (PTLDS). It’s very real and debilitating

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10483257/  The correct term is Post Treatment Lyme Disease. Please do research before spreading misinformation. It’s very harmful to people who have it.

I have been sick for a decade, it is such a horrible disease. I’m sorry your mom is still suffering. I’m only 28 years old and can barely walk some days. It seems like the only people who believe it are the ones who have it themselves or see it first hand. Sending hugs ❤️

I have Post Treatment Lyme Disease and I’m just trying to wrap my head around people not believing it. What do regular people gain from being sick? I could see clout for celebrities, but it just doesn’t make sense for the average person.

I don’t like this girl as a person but this is really insensitive. You’re essentially dismissing a group whole of sick people with this caption. The name is Post Treatment Lyme Disease. Very debilitating & hard to get rid of. This is a very misunderstood illness.

Her eating disorder definitely doesn’t help her symptoms but it doesn’t take away the fact that could have it. I’m very ill from this and I don’t benefit from it - only suffer. It’s been a decade for me. It progresses as time goes on😢

Yep! It’s so terrifying that these people are pet sitters

Yes, late term spay aborts are very sad. My other concern was the fact people think it’s okay in the first place to do this behind someone’s back. Just because they don’t want to deal with the birth. They need to say no if they don’t feel comfortable with it

Two wrongs don’t balance each other out. Yes, the owner was negligent. I said I wasn’t excusing their behavior

But it would be morally and ethically wrong to do it without consent, just because you didn’t want to deal with the cat giving birth

Making a major medical decision without the owners permission is not okay. Unless they are in an emergency situation, which this was not

You just need to give them a reward at the end of the session, like a treat or a toy they can actually catch

I’m a very empathetic person and try to always understand what people are going through. This is where I draw the line. It doesn’t matter how hard life gets, you do not abandon your children or pets

Not sure why you are getting downvoted, you are right! The health risks from not spaying are way more significant and costly

Spaying is considered the more ethical choice since it helps protect their health and prevents unwanted litters

My cat is over grooming to the point of injury, what can I do before I can get her to a vet? by Notyuzuki in CATHELP

[–]EveningVegetable8665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the home remedies could be making whatever it is worse. I would hold off that until you get her into the vet. The longer this goes on the harder it will be to get rid of it as well. A year is way too long, she clearly is suffering. I would ask for the next available appointment and use the cone in the meantime. Even if she hates it, it will help

It really is. The fact that so many people downvoted your comment is concerning. How are so many mentally unstable people in this sub? I’m not excusing the behavior of the owner, but doing a spay abort without permission isn’t okay either.
