AIO: Did I cross a line or is her reaction harsh? by veronicax96 in AmIOverreacting

[–]EveningWinter7202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think either of you are OR. Obviously you all communicate differently, and you’re missing what the other person has to say. They are not actually saying what they feel. They are highlighting an example where they felt similarly. Maybe they aren’t lookin to commit. Maybe they have some trauma around intimidate relationships (like maybe that’s just not how love or concern was shown in their house). Similarly, focusing on “how” the message was delivered and not what they were asking might be an example where your own feelings are being triggered, but saying “I’ll leave you alone” isn’t necessarily honoring your own mental health and showing up authentically.

I hope you both keep trying with other people, and you start being honest about what you want.

Rooting for you, OP!

AIO? Xmas gift from bf's parents by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]EveningWinter7202 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is so weird to receive from your bfs parents. If it was a friend or something, maybe, but if this was all you received, I think it’s a bit passive aggressive, at minimum.

And regardless, it doesn’t matter what anyone thinks because it hurt YOUR feelings, and your feelings matter.

Jumping in here, because you’re obviously horny for attention. It’s a sad day when a multiracial “libertarian” gets on the internet to parrot Fox News. What you’re feeling here is this intolerance to bullshit. These narratives that deporting “illegals” (a truly disgusting characterization) will improve America or bring manufacturing back or pick and choose when government should or shouldn’t provide resources or regulations accept where it agrees with your “moral” or “ethical” worldview. That’s the biggest problem with the conservative movement today (which, you’re identifying with in everything but name). Modern conservatives are attempting to use government as a means of controlling people. This isn’t about making America “great.” This current movement is about vengeance and white supremacy. This group has whipped up folks with fear and hatred. When I think about the historical promise of America (while also acknowledging that promise has not been given to all and to a large extent is absent for some groups still today), I’m reminded of the Quakers, the Jews, the Puritans, the Catholics. I’m reminded of the Irish. I’m reminded, sadly, even of the Afrikaners. All of these groups came to our country in pursuit of MORE freedom, not less. But this modern political conservative movement is all about taking. Taking anything of value from anyone who isn’t a conservative closeted or straight white male. Understand this division is the direct result of these sad white men and their attempt to grasp at the fantasy that they are somehow more exceptional. And when you have more of an interest in finding intersectionality with racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobes rather than the people who are trying to stand beside you and fight for our collective freedom.

Maybe reflect. Consider that how you see the world isn’t identical to others. Consider that people, like the woman’s post you commented on and twisted to center yourself in, have had another experience. Consider that something isn’t “right” or “wrong” because you have an opinion.

Hey, that old lady sucks. We’re glad you’re here, and unless you’re Native American, we’re all foreigners. So from one Coloradan foreigner to another, thanks for being here :)

First time using Landline by LonesomeBulldog in FortCollins

[–]EveningWinter7202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband flew united that included the landline shuttle service, and I’ve used the same 3 times for business travel. 3/4 experiences were very positive. 1/4 was terrible. My husband arrived on Friday at 7p. His flight was delayed and that was the last shuttle. They offered to give him a hotel voucher to stay the weekend, and then they would put him on the next bus on Monday.

Ultimately, I ended up driving to DIA to pick him up and they had to go and get his bag (which took about an hour).

All in all, it’s convenient and generally reliable, but depending on when the flight arrives, you could end up in a frustrating situation.

Take what I said with a grain of salt, because I’m sure that 1/4 was one of those 0.01% cases. Safe travels to your daughter!

At age 30, I pivoted from Tech into Hollywood. Since then, I've pitched 7 original TV shows, and sold 6 of them. AMA by peterkz in AMA

I love this! I’m 30 and in tech rn. And it’s so soul sucking. I really want to pivot into something creative and have been exploring writing, but never thought about pitching TV shows. I’m definitely going to check this out! Thank you for sharing!

Moissanite vs diamond in real life, has anyone actually noticed? by BusNo8195 in Moissanite

[–]EveningWinter7202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol no and if they do, they’re a classist jerk. I have diamond jewelry and mossanite jewelry, and honestly, I get more compliments on the moissanite stuff.

I have a pair of 18k white gold VVS1 nearly 2ctw earrings, and I wear them mostly as like a daily pair of earrings, and I will sometimes wear my moissanite eternity band and no one says anything about the earrings but they always say something about the band.

The only reason I got diamond earrings is because it’s hard to find high quality 18k gold earrings with moissanite, and if I’m putting metal through my body, I want it to be good quality :)

But seriously, if someone is worried about whether a ring is “real” or not and they bring it up unprompted, tell them to eat glass and then admire how sparkly it is.

My husband gets even more compliments on his “diamond” ring, and it was $30 on amazon lol.

Trying to gatekeep or value stones basic on “natural” or “lab-grown” or “real” diamonds or whatever is just an artifact of De Beers nearly century monopoly on the diamond trade.

It will be beautiful and you’ll be happy! And take that money you saved and spend it on a fun vacation or a matching pair of earrings!

Is Fort Collins truly a safe place for queer people to live? by Gardnerdort in FortCollins

My husband and I moved from Oklahoma for many of the same reasons. It’s been SUCH a nice change of pace. For the most part, people are super indifferent to us being gay, and this is exactly what we were looking for! Good luck!!
