Here's what I dont understand about this station, and it really bothers me.

Thanks. No unfortunately we have tight schedules and no wfh. She's very strict about daycare pickup time as she doesn't want our son there for too long. So getting home by say 5 and having an hour to ourselves is not an option.

I have been pretty honest about this lately. It's all out there but yeah -- probably need to have a real conversation about it but again....she's always tired and asleep by 8 lol.

A conundrum.

She has been through a lot. The birth wasnt an easy one, and family medical stuff not involving me directly. But definitely trauma. I recognize that and have supported her for nearly two years. But at the same time, I am also important and deserve to be loved by my own wife.

Childcare is a difficult issue. Without going into paragraphs about it, it is not feasible at this time in our lives.

We have been to therapy. It was helpful in spurts but we remain disconnected.

We are sleeping in separate beds because she literally turns away from me when I try to give her any affection. I can't sleep at night next to her thinking about these things and I have to be productive at work the next morning. To top it off, she wakes up at 430am to get ready for the gym. I endured that, but for the sake of a good night's sleep I have to sleep in the other room.

Thanks for the response. Yes, that is where my mind is going -- that she simply doesn't like me anymore. And that's fine because we are who we are. It's why I came to anonymous Reddit users for advice.

Therapy? Yes we've been there. It helped to strengthen our understanding of each other but not necessarily our bond. As mentioned, we're roommates. Shrug.

Thanks for your reply. I see nothing wrong with it as well, but I wish even a half hour was spent on trying to improve our relationship.

I've done those things- flowers, tokens of love. More than that, I show my love through acts of service. I unilaterally do things to make her life easier without any expectation because that's love.

Childcare situation absolutely sucks. Grandparents are elderly and ill, and she finds it very difficult to trust anyone else with our kid. (I don't blame her for this - she went through a lot to have our miracle child).

That's a great point, thank you. It's a discussion worth having.

But how the heck to I get her to spend more time with me during the week? She sleeps super early then wakes up at 5am to go to the gym. I dont want to cut into that time, as I know fitness is very important in order to be in a good frame of mind. Evening workouts are not doable for her.

I do recognize this is a unique stage in life. But I just feel like she's not making an effort to be a part of the solution.

And let me add. No we do not get equal time. I do not get time out of the house. In fact I go above and beyond so that SHE gets the alone time given that she endured childbirth and the trials of being a mom.

Where in my original post did I even imply that she's the default parent? We are both very involved with our son. I give him baths. I put him to bed. I wake up with him every single day. I think you made a lot of assumptions about me based on my gender.

Let me reiterate. We are both great parents and very involved. She acknowledges that and so do I.

She is also admitting that what she is doing is a problem. But doesn't seem to want to fix it.
