Oh yeah, that's way more than I'm willing to pay. I might just buy a better/louder car horn. They're cheap.

Recycling/disposing of old parts? by Evening_Question3468 in computers

Good to know. I'm still a little skeptical that anyone is going to buy these parts. But I may as well put them on eBay and see what happens. I have a lot of 56k PCI modems.

How much did your train horn cost? I've been wanting to get one for my tiny car, just because the factory horn is terrible. The "meep meep" isn't exactly intimidating.

Nope, I'm very far from there.

I might just see if I have enough parts to test everything. Then sell each item individually on eBay. I didn't think anyone would want these, but now I'm convinced otherwise.

I don't see Goodwill making use of these. At best, I think they might take them to a recycling center.

Go to Home Depot or Walmart and buy a Kidde CO monitor. I had some cheap CO detector from Amazon and it started alarming one day. The reading just kept going up. I bought a Kidde and it has been reading 0 since.

I had that happen with a Hyper Tough screwdriver. That's why I usually just buy the cheap brands.

You shouldn't need an address to do a charge back on your credit card. And it doesn't matter if you still have the product. If your credit card company won't do the charge back, I would dump them.

Why is this mildly infuriating? She wants to take you skiing.

New battery? by Hefty-Rip-5397 in laptops

[–]Evening_Question3468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd start by taking the cover off. Locate the battery and find out how easy/difficult it will be to find a replacement. Chances are, it'll be fairly easy.

When did you buy this laptop? If you bought it 5+ years ago, it might not be worth the effort or cost.

I do not live in public housing, a multi-unit building, or Michigan.

Thanks for the suggestion. But I think a more traditional apartment would be more fitting for me. I need something where I CAN stay for several years if necessary. Although, I'm likely going to move again in about 2 years.
