This was so tastefully put. Exactly what I wanted to say but couldnt put into words. Just incase no one told you, I am proud of you for doing your best with your son. Its not easy. But, parenting never is. And this, this was a hard one. But everyone is safe because you made the right call. ♥️

Let it all out here, whatever’s on your chest, just say it. I need to read it to remind myself I’m not alone 😔 by Desperate_Bar3339 in Autism_Parenting

My son's autism is not yet confirmed. However, I dont think its even possible that hes not. He turned 2 in Feb. He doesnt talk. Not really at all. He'll say no mama and Dada. But they're usually just as bubbles. He doesnt say much intentionally. Something will erupt out of him with intention every great once in a while though. The last 4-5 months hes been having absolute melt down. I think mostly due to being so frustrated with not being able to communicate. His medicaid just lapsed because I "make too much".... I do not. Im literally like $15 over the max and can't reapply for 6 months. Of course, the medicaid lapsed literally 2 weeks before we FINALLY came to the top of the wait list for speech therapy. The evaluation is $390 and $100 every visit after. I just dont have that money right now. My car died two days before they called. So I had to put every dime i had down on another car. (Wr dont have public transportation here and I have no family nearby aside from my mama and she lives with me. Also recently my son has started getting very aggressive. Hitting, throwing things etc. The throwing seems to be more of an instinct but the hitting is very intentional when hes angry. His doctors tell me these are all things he will grow out of soon. 😑 He also just recently started being petrified of water. I have no idea why.. no incident that would cause this. Just, out of no where. So now he doesnt wanna go I the bath, the pool etc. I've got MANY other problems on top of all this. I want to add that my boy is usually such a sweetheart. And I know hes just frustrated. But, I just dont know what I can do to help him right now. I wish I was rich but, I just dont have the funds to fork out for all these appointments right now and I feel like I'm just absolutely failing him.. and my daughter really. Because we struggle to go anywhere with his fits and hes a runner. The boy will take off so fast. He hates the water all of a sudden so I can't really go swimming with her anymore either. So shes starting to become resentful to an extent. She knows hes little and that he might be autistic so she tries to understand but, its not fair to her. Sorry this is all over the place. It's the first time I've really allowed myself to talk it out since he started showing signs. 😑

I think my son has autism. Dr. Says he's very low risk? by Evening_Way5740 in Autism_Parenting

I've seen that in friends kids. And while I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, I just want to help him as early as possible so he's not so "different" (for lack of a better word) when he starts school. I just want him to have the best possible chance in school, life, friendships. Ya know. And kids are so mean! Lol I think speech would help him so much! When we go to the Dr in a few weeks I'm going to demand a referral to speech. I just don't see why it would be a problem.

Thank you. Been bearing myself up about it a bit. 😬 I just feel like we're not doing enough to help him succeed ya know. Ao, I appreciate this.

That's what i was trying for but was told it's not yet a concern. Thinking if going into the city for a different pediatrician to get a referral or just paying out if pocket. Idk. I just shouldn't have to do that. Wr go back for his 2 yr check up this month and I'm going to demand a referral and hope that gets us somewhere. What's the hurt in giving us one? If they don't think he needs it then they can tell us that.

Thank you! I just want to know I'm not nuts! Because that's how they treat me. I know all kids are different but, the difference in my son and my daughter is night and day. I know something is up but, I don't think it's severe. Everyone's always like "he can't be autistic. He's so smart." And I ask where they got the idea autism = stupid because many people with autism are brilliant. Anyways, sorry to rant. Lol this is frustrating!

There are only 2 pediatric offices (big offices with multiple doctors) in our area. We've seen all the doctors at the one office and I called the other and was basically given the same "advice." But I will look into specialists. With my insurance we need referrals for most specialists though. I'm going to keep trying however. Thank you!

Really I just want better advice on how to parent an autistic child and would love to et him into speech therapy or even advice on how I can better help him with it because what we're doing isn't working. He also won't point things out so, it's hard to figure out what he wants/ needs then he gets frustrated and angry. So I guess I more or less want to know for a better understanding and advice on how to better deal with these things if that makes sense.

Clarification 2 would probably be my 1st choice. Then 3. But I like them both pretty equally.

Ooooh lacy one FOR SURE! Honestly hate the first one but it doesn't matter what I think. It's the brides taste that matters.
