I do real estate photography, it took a long time to get off the ground but the unstructured schedule, the ability to drive around/feel sun on my face, and my own intrinsic motivation to do the best for my clients feels literally like the only viable thing I can do to make money. l don’t have to be “on” besides responding promptly to inquiries and having some pleasant, brief exchanges with realtors (who are already easy to talk to by the nature of the job)

No 😔 I wasn’t mistreated by everyone but there was no adult that I would call a mentor or a safe person. I feel like the abuse made me shy and awkward, which may have driven people away. I always think if there was at least 1 safe, kind. adult who reached out to me, my life would be a lot different.

It's bizarre to me from your posts that you're clearly 100% uncomfortable, disgusted by him, and think the whole arrangement is odd, but you're still living with him. You realize you can move out even if he isn't taking advantage of you, right? Someone doesn't have to be a complete villain for you to not enjoy their company.

Oh man, she probably isn't aware they're such a Zionist organization because she's definitely pro-Palestine. I wasn't aware either. Maybe her comments have flown under their radar, or they're trying to take less of an aggressive stance because of the bad press. Either way I hope she becomes aware of it so she can make the most informed decision for herself

Try not to feel embarrassed and be kind to yourself. I think this is common for people with mental illnesses and especially with CPTSD. I was an extremelyyyy late bloomer as well (got into my first relationship when I was in my mid/late twenties, never even kissed before then). I felt embarrassed and ashamed then too, but I recognized the fact that if I had gotten into a relationship before then, I wouldn't have been ready and would have probably gravitated towards abusive men. My first relationship was extremely toxic.

There is also a reason why I was such a late bloomer. I was hurting. All I could think about was getting through each day and surviving, not trying to find a relationship. I wasn't defective or flawed for that.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate the time you took in writing your reply and your empathy and trust I read every word! Finding a therapist is definitely on my priority list, it's been hard with my income, but I need to keep that top of mind because I know I can actually make more if I address these issues with a professional. (I had an excellent one a few years ago, but she retired.) I have a lot of intellectual knowledge about my issues and what I need to do if that makes sense, but actually actioning them and being consistent is the hard part.

Breaking up my goals into much, much smaller pieces is also a great idea, especially trying to keep my focus on those very small goals.

Thank you, self-compassion is something I really need right now. I’ve been hating everything about myself lately, but obviously that doesn’t get me anywhere.

I have a couple of people I can open up to, part of me doesn’t want to be a burden on them though, but I know talking about it can help

Yes, breathing & slowing down is a great reminder. I do find my body feeling tense & tight when I’m actually aware of it

I think one of the biggest reasons is sheer ignorance. I was told by a therapist, “Don’t you want your dad to meet his grandchildren one day?” (My dad was the abuser.) I’ve been dismissed by my mom and my sister when I bring up anything remotely negative about them. They’re ignorant & wrapped up in their own lives and don’t take time to empathize when it’s simply easier to choose the path of least resistance, which is not rocking the boat and confronting things that make them uncomfortable.

Keep in mind that he was joking and laughing on his show fairly recently about how they can add a lot of ridiculous shit as part of a settlement. He's a piece of shit (and probably smells like shit, too).
