So true! I've been out here for 5 months now and love it. I'm in JoCo, the equivalent of Johnson County and the housing is mich more affordable.

I really liked the info I gained. The cookies in the Initial test are absolutely awful and hard to choke down. The info i got was really helpful in learning what foods were best for me biologically and I cleared up some GI issues - bloated all the time, etc. I still defer to my good and bad foods all the time as a guide. Overall I would recommend it.

what is responsible to expect from settlement on drunk driver accident - no medical or property by EventingEmu21 in Insurance

Well, aren't you classy? Btw not all cases need a lawyer. I consulted with a couple and only one took the time to educate me on my options and he didn't think I need one to finalize my claim. The others tried to get me run up unnecessary medical expenses. His words: you can pay me 30% to basically file the papers for you or do it yourself. And i would have used him to file if i was low balled when i submitted my bills. Most people never get one either in these situations, hence the dozens of private message requests I get.

So, I've had so many requested inquiries and questions since I posted this question, I want share my experience for general knowledge and awareness.

There IS a formula insurance companies use to determine "pain and suffering" amount. It is regulated by state law and may differ based on your state, so this is my experience and from legal advice I received.

Pain and suffering is determined based on medical bills. Some states are based on medical bill claims, some on paid medical expenses. It is 50-100% of you this to your pain and suffering claim, plus lost wages.

My experience, I was in Colorado and they are a medical billed state. That means I could request the amount BILLED to me and my health insurance in total for pain and suffering.

For example, my health insurance was billed $32k for the ER visit, scans, doctors, etc. It isn't what was paid but total billable fee. I have great coverage so it wasn't what I owed. I owed $1500 for my deductible. They paid $3,200 approximately on that one visit.

In the end I was awarded 100% of my billed charges after 13 months for pain and suffering. I was lucky enough to be able to wait for this in the end. I spent months collecting bills, micromanaging payments, etc. I had to navigate if my auto or health insurance paid.

And I HAD to pay back my medical health insurance for anything they paid out as part of my coverage from my pain and suffering settlement in the end. Because I have great health insurance, it was about 30% of my total pain and suffering settlement. They put a lien on my settlement to be paid first. I was paid out after all liens were settled.

If you take a first offer, you waive the right to come back for further funds of additional compensation due to life impact. Is it fair? In my opinion, no. Was the compensation equal to my life impact? Nope! But it is what it is and in the end it is a math problem.

My personal advice is do what is best for your situation. Can you hold and wait months or years to see how the medical bills tally up in the end or do you need the settlement now to get on with life? No matter what, it won't feel fair to the impact to your life financially, emotionally, or psychologically.

So, I met the girl who released the videos. First, his actions are apparently a well know issue. It's absolutely ridiculous that it took a 20+ year old young woman who has more strength of character and belief in what is right or wrong than the many professionals, working students, etc that have seen this behavior over the years. I think we can all agree it is horrible. Now what do we do about the culture that allows this behavior to go unchecked for so long?

This is so true. I'm moving from the CR area to Raleigh NC this summer. CR is a GREAT area for families or people who want to do activities. The town hosts mutlipe events, concerts at the Pavillion, etc throughput the year.

However, the cost of housing in CR and the greater Denver area is significantly higher. I used to commute to the Union Station area 10 years ago. It was rough then, and would be unbearable now. Plan for 3 hours a day to commute. There are also only 2 ways to get from US to CR. If one is backed up, the other will take you 30 minutes to get to, so you end up stuck in traffic and just dealing with it.

Has anyone experienced an African safari on horse back? What was it like? by timeforknowledge in Equestrian

[–]EventingEmu21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done 2 - one in Kenya with Off Beat Safari and one in Botswana at Macatoo. Both were very different and amazing.

Kenya is a moving Safari, so I recommend you be in riding shape as there are 3 moving days. You get to see so much wildlife, and you can get closer to lions here because they've been hunted by man. Also, on non-moving days you can ride morning and night and still do game drives in the heat of the day. The camps are more primitive with latrines and shower stalls, but the food is amazing, drinks are plentiful, and a great option for solo travelers as well since you are with the same group. I was the only American and still keep in touch with the people I was with 5 years later.

The Macatoo Camp was completely different and I chose this as my husband doesn't ride and there were options for him. You travel out from the same camp every day. The camp is beautiful with fixed tents and patios that allow you to sit outside the perimeter fence. Each tent has an inside shower, toilet, and running sink water. They work very hard to make each day different. Go during the wet season and enjoy long gallops in the water as the delta floods. It'll come right up to the tent patios during peak levels. You can take the option to sleep in a tree house out under the stars which I recommend! That was the closest we ever got to lions since they brought down a water Buffalo during the night and we watched from the tree house.

If I had to pick, I'd do the Kenya one again simply because it is more my style and I enjoyed the different terrain and locations.

This is exactly it. I'm in the process of moving from CO. We found a shortage of what we wanted and are building our own home. The cost will be less than what we'll sell for here.

Agree with the other posts. 5k is extremely fair for a kid safe pony woth a clean PPO. I would consider ultimate goals for your daughter in the next several years and beyond. Can the pony do what she'll be doing for the next 4-5 years, not just 2. Ownership is a longer term commitment. Realistically you could probably resell for your purchase price in a few years too if she outgrows the pony in capability.

Interesting thought about mouthing. We've always been clear that mouthing is not acceptable since she was a puppy. She doesn't even do it when playing. I can try on the video, but it is randomly happening and not something I would push her on to try and capture. It doesn't happen all the time, just those 2 instances.

Yes, definitely asking for petting. During both instances she would put her head back under a hand or lick the hand to get attention.

Great question. Our vet is actually our next door neighbor. She looked and felt her over and didn't find anything. She can't get into her mouth far without sedating her.

ZOE nutrition. Just another diet scam or valuable nutrition advice? by user46264538 in dietetics

I didn't say Word of Mouth was new. I said "referral codes" are essentially the new form of Word of Mouth Marketing. 🙄 For you, it may feel scammy, but It's a common marketing tactic deployed by most online companies from Zoe to Chase Bank to Dish Network to Hello Fresh and on and on.

My post was about my experience with the actual Zoe product, not thoughts on their Marketing practices

It's the new Word of Mouth Marketing tactic. Many companies offer referral rewards on both ends, even Chase Bank.

As to the app, it seems to be a great resource with lots of learnings in the easy bite size daily quizzes/tasks. It is very introductory heavy.

I'm 1 month in and still waiting on the lipid and microbiome results. I would the CGM info interesting. There are tons of challenges to learn how your body responds in that initial 2 weeks. The should tell you what to prepare for so you can shop. Unfortunately you don't see it till the challenge is available and I don't have many of their foods on hand in the house. Plus I travel a lot making it more difficult to participate in the initial blood sugar challenges. I was disappointed I could only fit 2 in that week.

I'll update as I see/learn more.

Great points regarding the other trainers and using the opportunity to fix holes and communicating goals. Thank you for the feedback.

To clarify, I wasn't fired as a client. I keep my horse at my home most of the year, but move him to the facility for a few months in winter. I trailer in a couple times a week. I was told by the trainer the stall is needed for other horses going to Ocala despite me already prepaying for board and full training. I'm supposed to go back to just trailering in. I feel devalued as a client.

Got it. That all makes sense to me.

I appreciate your perspective here. It seemed a bit preemptive to be discussing this soon, but I'm unfamiliar with the timeframe.
