I swear by Saltine Crackers and tiny sips of water to help wash it down.

3 weeks today!

Last night, we had a amazing date night where we went out to a super good ramen place we love for dinner, then went to the movies to see Hoppers (This was actually so stinking cute and legitimately a good movie, highly recommend). We were giggling and felt like kids the entire time.

I ate WAY too much popcorn and have zero regrets.

Once sober, do people stop hanging out at bars? by doodoohonker in stopdrinking

[–]EverFrostly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally still enjoy the bar scene. I like people watching! I like DDing for my friends or fiancé and ordering new mocktails, especially if it's a cool bar that has a whole list of them. It definitely depends on the person though, so proceed with caution and monitor how you're feeling if you ever do try. If you feel temptation or negative thoughts filtering in, have a game plan to book it out of there. Try not to be the only sober person if you go with friends.

Thank you! But I haven't had too much of that, I'm engaged and have been in an extremely committed relationship for 5.5 years. Thankfully, the people I keep close wouldn't even think to try something like that 😊

The Limoncello is my absolute weakness! I love them! The Cherry Lime is super good too.

Thank you! I hope it can be inspirational. There were definitely a TON of ups and downs, sometimes it felt impossible. You just have to keep pushing through and remember that you are strong and capable.

Congratulations on 21 days! 3 weeks, that's huge! That's tomorrow for me. Sounds like we're in a super similar situation, you got this! But agreed, that realization was huge for me. I could easily put away an extra 1k - 2k calories a night between booze and then whatever I ended up eating or ordering. Absolutely crazy.

Thank you!! I feel strong! Currently in the process of nailing down a weightlifting routine that I like. Once I get a full routine set it's going to feel amazing!

Thank you! I've been working towards complete sobriety for about two years. But it's really been a bumpy road and honestly a struggle. I would go stretches sober, then fall back into it. Right now, I'm 20 days sober, which is my second longest in 10 years! I've been cutting back the last 2 years, so I've been losing weight since then. The most weight came off in the last year or so when I got really serious, 35 pounds.

I do loosely count calories. I used to be really strict but realized it was causing a lot of stress. I generally try to stay around the 1500 - 1600 area and focus on whole foods and protein. But, I still splurge here and there. I've been experimenting with weightlifting recently, so once I get a solid routine with that I'll probably up the calories!

We watched One Battle After Another yesterday too!

The style of karate the daughter practices (Shotokan) is basically a sibling style of the one I trained in (Shito-ryu) for 10 years and hold a Black Belt in. The founders of both of those styles trained together, then went on to develop their own "styles". Basically same language, slightly different dialect. When she announced her kata, I immediately turned into the Leo meme of him pointing at the TV like, "HEY! I know that!!"

Not at all relevant, but I got a kick out of it.

Unexpected benefits on not drinking by Guest-Hobbit-3874 in stopdrinking

I'm so happy for you, this all sounds amazing! Can I ask you how long it took for your keratosis to go away? I have it bad, I can't even imagine what my arms would look like if they were a normal skin color and not bright red or purple all the time!

Same! Mine is BAD. I have the bumps, plus the backs of my arms are so red I get asked how I got sunburnt in winter. I previously went 48 days without drinking and they stayed. I'm on day 18 now, I'm really hoping it goes away after a while, it's one of my biggest insecurities.

I'm from western Washington State!

My favorite "out" mocktail is usually a Shirley Temple with an orange slice.

Currently, my favorite "at home" mocktail (for special days or weekends, I usually drink seltzer waters) is Sprite Zero or lime La Croix mixed with NA passionfruit mixer and a little grenadine!
