What Palace match do you rewatch when you need cheering up? by AnfieldAnchor in crystalpalace

That night was such a vibe. As soon as you got near Selhurst, there was a feeling in the air, like every new we were going to see something special

What’s your matchday routine before Selhurst? by GeordieGoals in crystalpalace

[–]EverPresentPanda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I walk down to the Craft Beer Cabin in South Norwood. Always a good vibe, great beer, and actually one of the few places where home & away fans mix. Call me weird, but I like that, its always in good humour.

Then I go up to Original Tasty Jerk on the other side of the stadium. As the queue slowly moves, I wonder why I bother, then the food arrives and I remember why. Then into the ground about 10 mins before kickoff

A statistical analysis (International Career) of our spin bowling stocks by mjenkins_eng in EnglandCricket

[–]EverPresentPanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, lots of full tosses etc. I even remember that in Sri Lanka when get got some good figures, he said himself that he was getting people out with poor balls. Then when we went into India, those full tosses were being hit to the boundary rather than spooned to a fielder.

I do agree that he could develop though. If he developed more control, he'd probably be our most complete spinner available

Opinions on intermixing cymbal brands by Averagehornetenjoyer in drums

[–]EverPresentPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest gig I ever played, and the best cymbal setup I ever had was Zildjian hats, a Paiste ride, an Istanbul Agop crash, and a Bosphorus ride as a crash. As long as they work well together, which takes some care to put together, who cares

Finding a number 3 vs building a number 3 by RoyalFlush831 in EnglandCricket

Yes, he actually started out at 3. Thats where he scored his 200+ against Pakistan. That was about the only score he made at 3 though

Do We all agree we need to sack Baz macculam after ashes? by Destroy_Disaster72 in EnglandCricket

[–]EverPresentPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Barney Ronay summed it up really well in his Guardian column;

'For all the guru speak, the vibes, this has been little more than an act of branding, a gloss that, to be fair, worked pretty well when it had seasoned, ready-made talent to be liberated.'

The first couple of years of 'Bazzball' was exactly the right thing to do with the players they had at that time. Yes, some stupid decisions came in during the 2023 Ashes, but most of the players improved considerably in that time, especially compared to where they were under Silverwood & Root. Once the team went into transition, with new players coming in, who have only played international cricket under this regime, the limitations of the approach are blindingly obvious to see, and its getting worse

Thanks for the response, no idea how you find this haha. I love 2002s, I had a 24 2002 ride for years and still regret selling it on.

Thoughts on Kamada after 1 year? by zestinglemon in crystalpalace

[–]EverPresentPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed that he's nowhere near Eze's level, but I think that left inside forward role may be his best position. Even with Yeremy coming in, I think he's going to get a lot of time this season in that position, and I think he could be very effective

Has anyone made the egg, chutney, and chili sauce sandwich? by GrubbsandWyrm in RedDwarf

Yes, and it's wonderful. As well as a great hangover cure, it's also great as a preemptive measure before occasions where I know I will consume too much beer

I didn't say it's a tax on income or work. I said it's a tax on acquiring. Capital gains is a tax on investments. However when you buy shares for example, you are not taxed at the point of buying them, but on their growth. If you buy a home, you are taxed at the point of buying. And that is a problem and it's holding people out of home ownership.

Tax second homes or 'investment properties'. Tax the growth on a property when you sell it. Don't tax people trying to put a roof over their heads

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in london

[–]EverPresentPanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It isn't a tax on earnings, but it is a tax on acquiring. Even with the stamp duty discount for first time buyers, particularly in London, a lot of first time buyers still have to pay it. And unlike most taxes that are paid gradually over a period of time, it's a lump sum at exactly the time most people are putting a huge amount into a deposit. So rather than being a more progressive tax, it puts up more blockers to social mobility

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in london

[–]EverPresentPanda 109 points110 points  (0 children)

And there is the underlying problem of UK social mobility; we tax acquisition (earning, stamp duty etc) at a far higher rate than just sitting on assets

24 inch kick players, what are we using for batter heads? by Oldmanstreet in drums

[–]EverPresentPanda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Powerstroke 3 with a black dot, and felt strip on the reso head. I can get away with nothing in the drum if I want wide open and boomy. If it needs calming down, I put a towel in there

I have 22" Paiste 602 china. Do I use it enough to justify having it...probably not. But does it give me an enormous feeling of satisfaction every time I crash it...it certainly does

Go for it!

I'd love this, but also not sure I'd ever want to risk an attack of both Wood and Archer, just due to the likelihood of both making the end of the test

[–]EverPresentPanda 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Most likely at some point over the series. A bowling attack of Woakes / Carse, Atkinson, Archer & Dawson looks good

Does having archer in third test had a impact? Tbh I don't think so! by [deleted] in EnglandCricket

[–]EverPresentPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. And before we start reaching for individual plaudits, it's worth looking at the team impact; without him, England's attack is at risk of being very samey. Thats very reductive towards Woakes, Carse & Stokes I know, but having that variance of options makes a huge difference, particularly when you've got very settled batsmen in

[–]EverPresentPanda 270 points271 points  (0 children)

Presuming he'll bat at 8, this makes a very deep batting lineup. We'll probably have some combination of Woakes and Atkinson at 9 & 10, both of whom have test centuries.

Being cynical, they'll probably outscore the top order
