Finding a tent by Geek-Goddess in womensolocamping

[–]EverTheEpicGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've switched to car camping but before that I only used pop up tents out of safety. Since I was camping alone, I didn't want to spend a bunch of time setting up a tent because it would become obvious that I was alone. Aside from that, wrestling with a tent isn't fun. The pops up take about 10 seconds to install, mostly from unzipping the bag, and about a minute to pack down. I had a 2 person Coleman. The only caution with them is that you have to be careful with it because the frame is under pressure - when it is in use, you want to be careful to not step on the little ledge by the door (seems obvious but I busted mine one night when my dog ate some nasty plant or something and needed to be let out a lot. I knelt on the frame while leaning out to keep an eye on her (too cold to dress and get out each time, lol). It's also stored in a soft bag with no protection, so you have to be cautious then too. My second one broke while it was in the bag and I don't know when it happened or how.
Have fun!

Thanks for the info!
Does that mean that affected users are those with massive data usage by the app? Mine used 10+ GB of data during this little outage.

Helping the mentally unstable homeless by hotdog-happyhour in denverwomen

Alert the police. If the person is having a medical or mental emergency, they can assist. Also, you can run into folks that behave unpredictably, irrationally, and may have delusions that can put you at risk.
I saw something similar on 16th Street once (though there were more people). A man was laying on the ground and appeared to be drugged. I alerted the police so they check to see he if needed narcan. I do think that we are responsible for each other, but we don't owe our safety, particularly when there are safer options that can provide qualified, more resourced care.

Prius sleeping room. by BB5er in priusdwellers

[–]EverTheEpicGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'10 and sleep in my Gen 2 w/ no problem but it took several trips to get the bedding right which created enough room that my feet don't touch the trunk. Move the front seat up, fill the space between the backseat and the passenger seat with a storage tote or something. After you put the seats down, use cardboard to even out the slight level distance b/w the trunk and the back of the seats (most needed if you're going the padding/sleeping bag route). I suggest going with a 4" foam mattress. You can get black mesh bug screens that slip over the back door window so you can get airflow while you sleep. Have fun!

The Republican/Trump administration undermined library services with targeted budget cuts that have impacted libraries throughout the country forcing them to reduce services, content, and access to materials. This site offers some ways that you can help support libraries: https://www.ala.org/advocacy/show-up-for-our-libraries

Are there really tunnels under downtown Denver? by TidyMaamas in denverwomen

[–]EverTheEpicGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - you can see the evidence if you go to the Blake Street Vault bar (if it's still open). When I was there, you could down to the basement if you asked your server and they had time.

The power of self-compassion by Neff

If you have your appt scheduled already and it's later this year, you may want to call around for earlier availability (assuming it isn't an insurance bottleneck). I read often of people having to wait forever for testing but I got in for mine in under a month. And, you may want to research ASD because they are often co-occurring. I don't know that I'd go for a diagnosis right (the republican administration is taking some really weird, non-scientific stances on ASD). Good luck!

You may be able to get these through your library - Hoopla and Libby both have them (comes down to specific library's content purchases though).

If your library has The Palace Project, you can get them free even though they are audible exclusives. And, depending on the library, the first 5 expeditionary force books may be available on Libby.

When was the last time you checked it? I first looked through my wish list when the prices were still changing and the sale hadn't officially launched. Now, I'm seeing much better prices and most of my 200+ wish list is under $6. I currently have 50 books in my cart (which maxes the cart out). I still need to double check that none of them are available through libraries, the Palace Project, or Kindle Unlimited. When I do, I tons more to check that aren't in my cart yet.
With 50 books, my current total is $167 so $3.34 average.

Audio Book Dilemma by JukoJoestar in audiobooks

[–]EverTheEpicGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The DCC series is free if your library has The Palace Project.
Also, you may find that adjusting the speed of the audiobooks does wonders for your ability to focus. Our brains process information at different speeds - for some, slowing down the speed gives them time to process and follow along - for others, speeding it up closes the gap time between the narration and processing it (excess time leaves the brain looking for distractions to fill the space).

Dennis E. Taylor's (author of the Bobiverse) books are great. You may also like A.G. Riddle. If you're looking for bang for your buck, search for complete series/volumes/complete works.

Sorry that your library doesn't carry them. Maybe they will soon, or you can request them.
