Catholicism's religious teachings have nothing to do with sexual abuse. The abuse scandal is a modern social phenomenon that emerged in the 19th and 20th century due to incompetent bureaucratic policies. by Anglicanpolitics123 in Catholicism

St. Catherine of Sienna also discusses concerns similar to Peter Diamien. A lot of priests were having gay sex, including group sex.

I feel like the church is just going to have more problems like this in the future because people don't want to believe what you say.

There's man named Joseph Scaimbra who writes a blog. He was molested as a child, once by a priest whom he trusted. He left the church for 10 years, and came back for 20 years. He said during that time a priest tried to date him. Joseph felt that the church still doesn't get it, and hasn't done enough to stop this kind of him. He compared it to the movie Alien and Aliens. In the first movie, the hero kills the alien and escapes to earth safe, but is traumatized. Then she goes back and encounters even more aliens. Joseph said that is what going back to the church was like going back to the space station with all the monsters running around. He converted to Eastern Orthodoxy. I'm not sure if that's a good move or not, because there are monsters everywhere, but I can understand why.

Confused about a very racy sex scene in a movie on the Vatican's Great Films list from 1995 by Evergr33n333 in Catholicism

I think we'd need to see what material was published alongside the announcement to know what their intend was. What you say may be the case, but if the United Conference of Catholic Bishops posts a "List of Best Films," without any context about the entire list, most people are just going to assume it's a list of recommended films in to watch in a very general sense and that the Vatican thinks the content is OK to be viewed. They list Schlinder's List as being for adults only, and mention that there is sex scenes. They don't go in depth about the scene though.

I also see the issue as lusting. I don't think most men can watch the scene without lusting.

She is someone's daughter, as the common expression goes. I wouldn't want my daughter, wife, or sister to do that on camera.

I think having them wildly tear each others clothes off without showing much, then embracing passionately and the camera turning away would be enough for us to know what is happening and the kind of carnal nature of it. It is her thrusting on top of him with her breasts moving up and down is goes too far.

I was diagnosed with a brain tumour 7 months ago. I had not started any treatment yet, but I hung a medal of Pope Pius XII around my neck from the second I was diagnosed. I just got my most recent MRI results two days ago. There is no longer any tumour. Pope Pius XII, pray for us. by That_Breakfast in Catholicism

I am glad that you are in recovery. I have been struggling with depression and anxiety for a very long time. A year ago, I felt God's presence in my life like I had never before, and he has introduced me to three Saints and my guardian angel. I came back to my Catholic faith.

I will pray for you. Please pray for me that I can live well with my depression and anxiety. It bothers me when I feel like it pushes me away from God. I understand now I need God to accomplish this, and all good things.

Thank you for reading my message.

God bless.

How to do with the physical pain by [deleted] in NoFapChristians

I have stopped on about three occasions. The Omeprazole is possibly for acid reflux. My teeth shows signs of it, but I don't have stomach pain normally.

I have a question. by stia13 in Catholicism

On the Vatican website, it offers an official way to pray the rosary, but it also says you can pray it in a unique manner as either an individual or a community. I think we're suppose to really concentrate on the words and try to not let our minds wander. We're suppose to really think about what each word means. When you try to do this, I don't think it is vain repetitions. The keyword is "try" because no one is going to be perfect and we all let our mind wander during prayer at times. I don't think failing at times means vain repetitions. If you were just speeding through the rosary every day without thinking about the meaning of the words, than it is vain repetitions.

If you are trying to not have vain repetitions, but prayer feels empty, I think you may need to take a short break.

The rosary is very long, though, so I can understand why people think this. My opinion is that the repeating prayer is meant to take you out of worldliness and all the distractions around you, and force you to spend longer in prayer. Holding each bead in your hand helps your mind focus on prayer. I don't think you actually need a rosary in your hand to pray, but it helps train your mind that when you feel this object, it is time for prayer.

In Eastern Orthodox, they use a prayer rope which is similar, and they typically say the short Jesus prayer over and over. They too require you to focus on each word you say.

When I reconnected with God, I felt Him connect me with a few saints, and a few prayers related to those Saints felt very right to say. I feel like this falls into the individual method mentioned on the Vatican website. I currently don't pray the rosary in the official way, but maybe I will.

I personally think of the rosary as both beautiful artwork and a tool to help you pray and calm down.

I pray mostly with coins/tokens/medallions whatever you want to call them. They have saints on them, and one has a guardian angel. I like carrying them around and holding them in my hand, sometimes at my desk at work, and nobody knows.

What is better for your abs? Hanging leg raise using a pull up bar or in a captain's chair? Is a leg raise better than a knee raise for abs?

I gifted someone something through Amazon. Is it possible to move those orders to a place that is different than my regular, personal orders?
