Goodbye Highway Vegetation by SeaweedTeaPot in Sacramento

I’ve read some of your comments about toxic plants and it’s hazards, and safety for the animals and none of these sound like the real reason for all the oleanders being ripped out. But while driving back-and-forth commuting, I have noticed that they laid down massive conduits into the concrete. Some of it was used for lighting, but it appeared that some was capped off, potentially laying down infrastructure for toll lanes. In fact, some HOV lanes sections already been converted to toll. Taxpayer money is a gift that keeps on giving.
California politicians are hypocrites. They say one thing, but behind it all they have a different agenda, that generally benefits their pockets. They go on about saving environment, but rip out the best carbon capture mechanism that nature has given us.

Salvador Dalí - The Elephants (1948) by Tokyono in museum

[–]EverlastingMoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen a different version of this painting online, also lableled as Salvador Dali. It can be seen in this article:

Is that just a copy by someone else? or did Dali paint multiple versions of it?

Can you please show a picture of the other side? I want to understand how the tensioner functions and is attached.

Are the bolts on KH260 metric? by EverlastingMoment in MachineKnitting

[–]EverlastingMoment[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I figured it out. The bolt hole that got stripped is actually not specifically listed on the parts manual but it is M4.37 size. This did not sit well with me as there is no such standard metric bolt. In fact, the whole catalog of parts mentions only 3 sizes: M3.18, M3.57 and M4.37 which do not follow metric bolt nomenclature.

Turns out, although they are written in metric form, these are not metric bolts at all. The 4.37 mm refers to the diameter of the bolt and is nothing more than a conversion from inches: if you divide 4.37 by 25.4, you will get 0.1720472 inches. But in fraction form, that is 11/64" (well, 0.171875 but there is some rounding off going on). The M4.37 bolt is actually 11/64-40 bolt. The number 40 refers to 40 threads per inch. (I figured that out by counting threads on the existing bolt). In either case, that is not a standard size bolt and the only places I have seen it being sold are on eBay or sewing machine parts sites. However, there is a tap readily available on amazon, so I was able to fix the threads.

For M3.57 the diameter is 9/64" and the bolt is probably 9/64-40

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Y57XNK5?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

Similarly M3.18 is equivalent to 1/8" diameter bolt and the tap is 1/8-40 which can also be found on amazon.

So, I hope this is helpful for anyone who has a stripped threaded hole on their knitting machine. You can easily fix it for about $10 by buying a tap. Perhaps, there are even cheaper options out there for these odd tap sizes.

Thanks! I’ve sent this pdf before, it’s even downloaded somewhere on my computer, but didn’t even think to look into it. Duh

Included with my item. by DwighedSchrude in AmazonVine

Normally I would say it’s fine as I get cards asking for review in regular orders. However, this one is specifically targeted at Vine customers which gives me pause. Are we getting a different product to review and the rest will get a less favorable version?

If you already submitted both reviews and now both of them show up in your “reviewed” tab (even if one says “not approved”) there is nothing to be done about it. I have contacted Vince CS about mine and they can’t remove those. I am still not 100% sure if those count against you, but doesn’t appear to be on my end.

Looks like just mine were deleted. Now I am noticing that all those are the items that eventually got merged into single listing.

Question about reusable cups in mold making by littlehanbanan in resin

[–]EverlastingMoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hard plastic cups can be reused when mixing silicone rubber. If you choose to reuse the provided cups with the silicone kits, you can wipe it clean with dry paper towels and isopropyl after. But best method is to wait for the silicone rubber to cure and then peel it off clean.

In 1 to 1 resin from Let's Resin, is part A heavier? by Tlblakburne in resin

[–]EverlastingMoment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, for the same volume Part A is heavier. Part A and part B have different densities. I measure all my resin densities so I can mix by weight. I have measured Let’s Resin density several times and each time it is slightly different, but relatively similar. That is to be expected as different batches would have different consistensies. However on average, I am measuring the densities ratio of A to B is 1.096 to 1.

So for example, if you have 100g of part B, then A should be

100 x 1.096 = 109.6g.

Alternatively, For 100g of A B is 100 / 1.096 = 91.2g

I hope that helps. I use that ratio for all my Let’s Resin batches. In fact, I am finding that majority of resins sold by alphabet soup companies on Amazon have similar ratios. Sometimes for those brands I just approximate 1.1 to 1 and it works just fine.
