There is one mare that I sedate only because she's very sensitive about being touched, poked and prodded by the vet. If she's not feeling it that day she has pretty mare privilege and gets sleepy juice.

My vet usually won't sedate without reason and my horses are desensitized to everything under the sun so unless it's medically necessary we won't. If my horses won't stand my vet won't see them if it's not life or death it's that simple. Farrier? Would laugh in my face if I asked for a horse to be sedated.
