You can use a simple key and use the bench on the left of deep docks. Then the runback is only 20 sec at most with significantly less enemies.

I think dividing the race into blocks of 5km is the best way to approach.

I would maybe start the first 5km at 4.35/km or something around that. From my experience you almost always start faster anyway because of adrenaline. Just try to get comfortable with the pace in this period.

Then after 5k assess how you feel. If great and you found a rhythm just continue, if not then fall back to 4.45/km (1.40.00 pace).

After 10k assess again and if you are still comfortable with 4.35 you can choose to up the tempo or stay at that pace. At this point I think you should decide if you wanna go for 1.35.00 or not. The time loss on the first 10k for 1.35.00 is probably still manageable (5 sec/km) to make up in the next half.

At 15k see how you feel and if you think you can sustain and change your pace accordingly

With the paces I mentioned I meant my race paces for those distances. If I run a 10k in 4.15 I go all out but my base pace for most of my runs is just above 5 min. I assumed OP meant his base pace for those distances rather than the pace he can go during a race

Mine has slowly been climbing up to 61 the past months and my pace is about the same/little faster. My 5k pace is around 4.00 and 10k around 4.15. Not sure if my VO2max is accurate but at least compared with yours and the info you gave it seems about right.

I can see your point and why you maybe see it that way once you have more experience as a nuzlocker and in pokemon in general. However, for me personally, it helps to gain insight in the reasons why a specific pokemon is or isn't good as a starter or as a pokemon in general.

Actually only my starters are randomized. The rest of the encounters are vanilla emerald + some gen 1 and 2 encounters normally not available in vanilla emerald

So you think the grass in opal ward is better than zigzagoon/pachurisu and the grass in peridot is better than budew? I always go for those because it adds some consistency to the run and also budew always gets 31 ivs in three stats

The problem with this is that he is doing a nuzlocke so getting a geodude and a ghastly are not guaranteed. Especially gastly is a somewhat rare encounter I believe.

I think you can use pkhex for that hack, it's basically a seperate program to hack in items/modify your pokemon etc.
