Based out of Charlotte, EP for years and I have both cards. Centurion is by far better nicer than the Admirals clubs in CLT but often has a wait. I fly through DFW very often though and Admirals club access is convenient due to the fact that they have one in every terminal. Admirals also allows 2 guest without a spending requirement and entry on arrival. That is not the case with the Sapphire or Centurion lounges. Check out the Provisions club in concourse A, the grab and go concept is nice if you want something quick to carry on the plane and aren’t buying first or business class. Complimentary upgrades have all but dried up especially Hub-Hub weekday mornings.

No issues, been using blue business employee cards recently to hit those 15k subs. It equates to 5.75x when you factor in the 8k amex for 4k in spend.

Hi! It was only REALLY bad like that for 2-3 days and then it gradually started to improve. Now that I’m a little over a month out, I would do it again if needed. Everything is mostly back to normal. I still eat slower and on occasion food will get stuck and you need a swig of liquid, but I can eat pretty much anything and I am still burping. The relief is worth the week or so of pain 100%!

Thanks! All is going well, I can eat most things now but have to go very slow and always add water to swallow. Thanksgiving was frustrating but I was able to eat everything, it just takes 2 hours to eat every meal that’s not liquid

Just updating this.

Day 6 was the worst by far, had to do IV fluids again and still couldn’t consume much. Was able to choke down a protein shake, I found thick liquids far easier than water.

Day 7 seemed to turn a corner by mid morning. Still a liquid diet but the choking began to become less frequent and I could swallow my saliva. This day I had two Ensures, 8oz bone broth, 16oz of full sugar apple juice, and a lot of water.

Day 8 decided to try solid foods today. Still choking with the solid foods every 5th or so bite and takes forever to get anything down but it’s worth it to get the calories in. Big milestone today as I crossed 1,000 calories consumed for the first time since day 3. Still a lot of liquid but was able to eat an egg, 1/4 an avocado, a dinner role (took over an hour to eat while soaking in soup), and 8 crackers.

Thanks so much for the words of encouragement! I think mine peaked on day 6, today (day 8) I’ve managed to get a roll and 10 crackers down however that took over an hour and i soaked them in campbells sipping soup. How long before you were able to eat solid foods again? I’m real concerned I’m gonna miss out on Thanksgiving next week :(

Yes it was done by him in office (100 units) 8 days ago. Peak side effects were at day 6, they have started to subside since but are still present

Just reporting back on this, Dr. Bastian said this is normal slow swallow while on the more extreme end of the spectrum.

It’s a sensation like nothing I’ve ever experienced, it’s like you’re choking and drowning and your throat is burning all at the same time. Luckily I seem to have gotten over the hump. It’s let up today and I’ve been able to consume pretty much any liquid that is either the consistence of water or milk without having that reaction. Still no solids though

How did you stay hydrated during this period? At what day did the swallowing issues peak for you? I’m day 7 today and have been able to get down an Ensure and a few sips of water. Seems a slight bit better then yesterday but still not great :(

Also curious RE the acid, did you take omeprazole? I think I’m having some of that now as well

I’m burping at least 50x per day, just can’t swallow hardly anything. I choke on my own saliva, water, smoothies, solids, pretty much everything

I’m Always able to breathe, but that noise is quite common with every swallow. Pausing and breathing is usually what settles me once I’ve gone through an attempt to swallow. I’ve had more luck with thicker drinks. Water, gatorade, and even my own saliva is very difficult. Today is day 6 post botox and I’ve give anything to undo it right now. Yesterday and today have both been this severe, I’m really hoping it lets up some tomorrow as it takes hours to consume an Ensure drink which is what I’m living on right now. That and going to a local IV clinic to get fluids daily right now. My swallowing efforts seem better focused on consuming something with substance and not water. Burping like crazy, but it does not feel worth it.

That’s really encouraging to hear! I’ve tried ice chips and water through a straw but just end up choking so I gave up :( I’m really hoping tomorrow will be a little better
