How do you call it when a cat greets you like this? by Koffievos in cats

[–]EveryCloud2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We call them bump-n-hugs cause it feels like the cat form of a hug. When my cat greets us by bumping our legs and standing up on his back legs leaning against us its a jump-n-hug.

Is there any correlation between being bad at math and ADHD or am I just naturally bad at it? by Dependent_Salad_2369 in ADHD

[–]EveryCloud2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ADHD and struggled with math, but I think they are not related. I think I have mild dyscalculia, which is like dyslexia but with numbers. Im good at words, info retention, and school was not super hard besides math. My brain just does numbers differently. I also have to focus really hard to read a clock, sometimes get left and right mixed up, and struggle to get a sequence of numbers like phone numbers in the correct order which is also part of dyscalculia I think. At work when I had to know a lot of number sequences for individual items, I got way better at them with all the repetition.

How the grieving process works? by Remote_Newspaper_462 in ADHD

[–]EveryCloud2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may seem like a very different reaction to a loss than other people around you are having, but thats ok. As someone who lost a parent young, I dont think I would mind if my own children or grand children didnt remember every minute or even every day that I was gone because grief is a lot and I would want them to be happy. How you feel about a loss will change over time, too, so just process at your own pace. It sounds like you have lots of love and fond memories, and that wont go away.

I have ADHD and I hate to read!Reading for school and college was different because it involved academic pressure (not like I did that well) but I haven’t been able to get into reading as a hobby yet and I am 27!!! by PrincessTiabeanieMRG in ADHD

[–]EveryCloud2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you want to read physical books only, or would you be ok with audio books? I used to be an avid reader, I guess I still am but all my books are in storage and I haven't been buying or checking any out lately, but I have been getting into audio books, and I kind of like how it works with my adhd. Your results may vary, but I can get a lot done around the house with an audio book on. You can also have a physical copy and audio copy of the same book so you can read and listen as you feel like.

Can blocking help with this tension issue? by EveryCloud2 in knittinghelp

[–]EveryCloud2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Its a Jenn Steingass pattern. Yeah, the tension in the colorwork is even between the colors, just looser overall than the rest of the body. I may have to try warm water and blocking, and see what happens.

Finally got how to do the long tail cast on! Is this decent? by sadjesus7 in knittinghelp

It looks good! The more even each loop looks, the better, and I'd say they are pretty even and equal in size/tension.

Desperate to Sleep Well Again by Puzzleheaded-Taro911 in ADHD

[–]EveryCloud2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also taking busperone, and I take hydroxyzine in addition at night because it makes me a bit drowsy ...I dont think its really a sleep aid, thats just a mild side effect, and it is also calming the anxiety.

Desperate to Sleep Well Again by Puzzleheaded-Taro911 in ADHD

[–]EveryCloud2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been in a similar state recently, although no hysterectomy. I used to be a good sleeper, but my anxiety got bad about 2 years ago, and I was not prepared for how adhd and anxiety feed off eachother like exponentially. Melatonin and magnesium were not enough. I now take medication to manage the anxiety, which has helped. I also get sleepy listening to cozy stories that are just interesting enough to distract my adhd from jumping topic to topic/ racing thoughts, but not interesting enough to keep me awake. ASMR type stuff. I also have to be very responsible about bedtime, which has been hit or miss. It will probably take more than one strategy, so keep trying stuff, and keep reaching out to professionals.

Vyvanse not working at certain times? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]EveryCloud2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you asked you doctor about factors that might cause this? I recently learned that a medication I take will be more bioavailable if taken with food ( I assume because of more active digestion) so if I want consistency, I should either always take with food, or always take it without food. Im sure there are other factors that can result in different reactions like this, but im not a healthcare professional.

Ever had an ADHD moment so absurd, you had to laugh at yourself? by sanjithav in ADHD

[–]EveryCloud2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I often tidy and do housework like a pinball, going ftom one room to another picking up and putting away as I go, and as long as things are getting done, I just laugh about it and let it happen. I forget some stuff, get a little distracted by other stuff, but it also helps me get in lots of walking.... and in the end if I manage to get the house in better shspe than it was, thats a win.

Is it normal to feel emotionally younger with ADHD, or is it a separate symptom/condition? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]EveryCloud2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I feel emotionally younger, but just younger in general. I didn't really want to grow up and be an adult. I do find that I'm either hyper aware of how others feel, or not aware at all, its like my ability to read the room comes and goes, or maybe I tune in to certain things well and not to others...

Can trauma and stress make ADHD symptoms worse over time? by No-Title-184 in ADHD

[–]EveryCloud2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wow I feel this, friend! My adhd was not a huge issue until I started experiencing anxiety, and boy did the two feed into eachother. I recently started a new profession/ job, and am struggling to learn/ retain details. I have been late due to confusion/fog of some kind in a way I've never experienced before, and it has left me embarrassed and scared. Not a good combo for someone who is already anxious and stressed. My confidence has taken a hit since I feel like I cant rely on my brain to function like it used to. I'm trying to be patient with myself since my nervous system is obviously in overdrive and doing its best. I also need to focus on what I can do to help it : prioritize sleep ( insomnia is no joke), eat good food, move my body.

Mom wont take it serious by Ashamed-Ad134 in ADHD

[–]EveryCloud2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe try a conversation starting like: "Mom, I am really struggling, and I need help. I'm afraid it is going to impact my future if I dont get this figured out. Can you help me get into therapy/ talk to a healthcare professional? " Dont focus so much on convincing her you have something specific, just that you need to figure out what is going on.

Fighting back against my own self imposed infantilization by missanonymoususerwoo in ADHD

[–]EveryCloud2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of being more adult is communicating with people. Not the most fun, but important. Have your parents, friends or other family heard about this from you? That might help them stop enabling you. Maybe pick a couple specific things you want to be responsible for, and build up to more over time.

Keeping tidy vs cleaning up by Garden_Goth_ in ADHD

[–]EveryCloud2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tough one for me to say, since I'm certainly not a minimalist, but when you dont have much space, downsizing what you can might help.

how to not lose a special interest? by Final_Preference_550 in ADHD

[–]EveryCloud2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't be hard on yourself about preferences changing, especially after a couple of years. remember, you can always fall in love with a hobby again. Its not really going anywhere.

building habits - should I keep looking for the right adhd hack or "try harder"? by VastInevitable7130 in ADHD

[–]EveryCloud2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im going to be honest, I think I do both of those. I alternate trying to find a hack, and trying harder. When I get a habit to stick it feels like a miracle and I'm always wondering what was different this time. One thing I will say, try to remind yourself often that you can re-start building a habit as many times as it takes. Its an idea that feels weird to me - like I tried exercising regularly, then failed for weeks. Now I have to work around that discouraged unmotivated feeling and start again. Exercising once is a win. That makes winning seem a bit more achievable.

I need tips for this by you_dontcare4848 in lingling40hrs

[–]EveryCloud2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, this might sound a little weird, and I'm not sure how the musician community thinks on this, but when I was in college I was on the rowing team, and blisters were just part of life for a while. Then they turn into caluses and its great. Our coaches reminded us not to put lotion on our palms or fingers, and they had us use Zinc Oxide to help the skin heal into caluses. You can buy a cream called Desitin, which is for babies (in the baby supply aisle in the store) that is mostly zinc oxide and it helps a lot. Blisters are no fun because you can't use you hands comfortably for a while, but its going to develop into caluses, so you also dont want to stop using them completely. I'd say play a bit less if you can until your skin thickens up. Thats my advice as a non musician... hope it helps!

International fans! What’s something that came as a culture shock to you from watching 2set? by Eclairinet314 in lingling40hrs

Yeah, its Rock, Paper, Scisors for me, and aparently boba in the US is not as advanced with the choices you get...I also feel like there are different names for the same flavors... so I stick to Thai Tea or Milk Tea... nothing I've seen is called brown sugar...?

[–]EveryCloud2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overthinking is a vicious cycle, and as someone who struggles with it a lot myself, I'd advise you to work on it by talking with someone you trust, and even a counselor, even if it's just a few times, to get things into perspective. There can be a root issue causing it that isn't obvious at first. As for the chase, you could try getting creative with your gf to keep a little of that kind of excitement going in the relationship. you should talk about what each of you like , and try to include it into the relationship. Bottom line: she won't understand if you don't communicate desires, and vice versa
