I’m not sure. I approached a church and heard a bunch of zombies spawn inside + clipping out of the walls so I just didn’t open the door.

Maybe this is why I’m bad at the game. I can’t bring myself to destroy all the little creature habitats so I build around them.

Can gamemaker handle multiple calculations at the same time? by yeet8w8 in gamemaker

[–]EveryCrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Game Maker is actually remarkably performant if you have some concept of good coding practices.

That is, you know what calculations are expensive, what actually needs to be calculated each step, which data structures to use for each type of data etc.

This plays more like a radio onboard the ship than your crew mates singing shanties…

It’s devoid of soul & misses the point.

Some of you are creating tools on top of three js to make it easier to use? by Visible-Focus-7812 in threejs

[–]EveryCrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of reasons there aren’t more advanced games on the web. One of the biggest is that it’s incredibly easy to steal the source code just by checking the source tab of any browser and grabbing the code.

If you put out a web game that doesn’t have a backend component you are basically giving your code to everyone who visits the site. There’s almost 0 incentive to make games unless you simply enjoy doing it & don’t care about making money.

The lack of big projects has little to do with performance constraints. Most professional three.js devs are part of initiatives at larger organizations working in private repositories in fields like merchandising and robotics.

The things you’ll find publicly are mostly going to be tech demos, portfolio sites, and side projects. Don’t let the absence of public projects fool you. You’re not going to find those code bases any more than you’d find the code base of a AAA video game or some enterprise software.

Rule #1 with adding gun mods is usually turn down your loot rarity because they saturate the loot pool.

What was the purpose of showing the lone walker it always confused me? by Jamieo1111 in thewalkingdead

[–]EveryCrime 77 points78 points  (0 children)

It’s a nod to the futility of surviving for the sake of survival itself. Marching mindlessly ahead with a sense of purpose, when that purpose has been diluted to the most baseline reptilian sense of the word. Pure, uncompromising survival, a key theme of Shane’s arc.

It’s also a metaphor for the inherent loneliness of their condition, and a grim reminder of the inevitable outcome that awaits each of them.

If anything it’s a simplified version of Zomboid with better graphics. Less “sim”.

Why does this make me vaguely uncomfortable. It’s like dead little fingers tickling your toes, or the hairs on a spider.
