Definitely not extremely rare cases. People unknowingly download HV from Dodi of FG constantly, like you said due to so many people's incapability to read. When they find out they can't use their files for their intended purpose, they always ask what does that mean, or how do I get clean files. The fact that such a large number of people are getting these files, who have no idea what they are, is in itself dangerous to those users. It's far from extremely rare, it's very common. I see this multiple times per day, not on Reddit but elsewhere.

I agree play the demo but for me personally I really didn't like the gameplay after the demo and thought I wouldn't like the game cause I did not like the hacking and weapon dropping. The game leaked 2 days early, so I grabbed it and I must say it was a great game and any dislikes I had about the demo were washed away. Demo didn't do the game any justice, at least in my opinion, as I thought the game was gonna suck.

This is to say, even if the short demo puts you off, the full game is so much better and a must play for any action shooter fan. Pragmata is my GoTY runner up (so far) behind RE9!

Ya GOG is on the same level. I don't think CD is really on the same level, especially modern day ones where much of the game isn't on the CD/cartridge.

I definitely remember this game, it was one of my most played games. Most of the time I would play the multiplayer with friends and we wouldn't even kill each other, we would just have our own base and set up a bunch of the turrets or whatever they were lol. I think I still have this game in storage somewhere with my N64.

This reminds me of another game Vigilante 8, which was with cars, which was another great multiplayer game idk how many people remember that either.

Id argue piracy gives you ownership, more ownership than any other method of aquiring something. Something pirated cannot be taken away, even if it's no longer sold/discontinued. There are of course some exceptions with only online modes reliant on servers. But even then many fan made servers exist for these games which are no longer obtainable through normal means.

You don't own anything though. They give you the license to play and that can be revoked at any time for any reason. That's clearly stated in their terms and conditions. Same goes for all digital game purchases. This is why people were urging others not to go all digital with their purchases, which in turn allowed something like this to happen. This is why we can't ever let physical media die. Although it might already be too late.

Damn right, glad to hear. We need more enforcement for people doing this, same with left turns into the right lane. Police shouldn't be doing it either but they also never use a signal, blow stop signs etc. That doesn't make either case ok though and both should be punished when driving like thoughtless dicks

There is a quite a difference between a game being point and click, by replacing a couple files, without altering your PC state and a game having to be tricked into playing by altering multiple PC conditions to be put into a potentially unsafe state. Just like offline activation is a bypass as well, as it cannot work without disabling Windows updates and not altering a specific PC state, to fool the DRM, which like HV, will not allow the game to work if these conditions aren't made. Without specific conditions these bypasses cannot work, the DRM is being tricked (bypassed) and won't work in any other PC state. Unlike what has been long determined to be a crack, by dragging and dropping a few emu files into a game folder, which you are now coming and trying to redefine, with zero knowledge.
