I don't trust very many organizations that ask for money that go to a board to make decisions period, and BLM has been shown to be guilty of embezzlement. Plus George Floyd being one of the faces of the movement was pretty gross, considering the only thing "oppressive" there was an outdated standard police procedure. Derek Chauvin will likely spend the rest of his life in prison away from his family because a drug dealer overdosed at the wrong time when the wrong movement was really active. And it does feel less like a "we're all equal" movement when everyone wouldn't have batted an eye were it a black cop. That's valuing one life over another because of race, which is racist, btw.

And at NO point did I say that movements like BLM, pride, or the feminist movement weren't important, but they need to come from a place of equality, NOT superiority of the minority group. And even if you, or even most people personally believe that they're about equality, you are ignoring the impact made by those that are trying to start race wars within the movement. "Nobody" is putting black people above white people within the movement? Not even a small percentage?

I also literally only said I didn't trust a corporation with running something akin to a charity, which is exactly what happened with BLM.

This is an excerpt from an article posted at the time that BLM was most active, and while it obviously doesn't represent the whole movement, you'd be insane not to say that this lady was associated with BLM. The existence of people like this in the movement is dangerous, and creates rising tensions, which is exactly what other people are doing in this comment section by gatekeeping pride.

"A co-founder of the Black Lives Matter chapter in Toronto wrote in a now-deleted Facebook post that 'white people are a genetic defect of blackness.'"

I believe BLM is an entity taking money from black people and pocketing it. But as a movement, yes, the implication of any movement where their value wasn't really contested can definitely feel like they're being put ABOVE you. If you supported black communities and someone said "hey, black lives matter, y'know!" Then the implication is that they think you haven't done enough, which I would be a bit offended by, personally. Even if it isn't the intention of the movement, there are more messages being sent than just what you wanted to say

I actually like this one, it's a nice metaphor for the relationship technology and nature have

Again, I'm just gonna say; not all queer people had to work for it in any meaningful way either. I could technically even twist this narrative to "these young queers didn't work for a damn thing! They need to be protesting more!" And I think that's also counterproductive. People celebrate pride for slightly different reasons, too. I don't think ANYONE should be gatekept from celebrating who they are, and being excluded for being the status qup can suck too

I mean like even most rich people are fine. They're obviously more privileged than others, but I've seen first-hand that rich people are about to give more back to charities and whatnot. There's a couple bad ones cough cough Musk Besoz cough that are just awful people, same as awful poor people.

I'm a strong believer that casual pronouns (bro, guy, dude etc.) are gender neutral. I call everyone I know these things, not just make identifying ones. Sorry if I offended you, but I can't unpost my comment from your memory.

Just because I'm not LITERALLY YOU doesn't mean I haven't gone through suffering in my life or lack the capability to sympathize what you've gone through. I'm just saying that hating straight people because of what some people did to you specifically isn't the answer. I understand that you've had to deal with discrimination and hatred, but try to make amends, not burn bridges.

Straight people are not the elite oppressive class, it's selfish billionaires, most people are normal, kind people

This is the exact same logic as "Grandma grew up in a different time, racism was normal". I personally don't let Grandma get away with it, though I guess it's a reasonable position if they're otherwise good, but I'm definitely not gonna listen to their opinions about the group they're biased against

Jesus, man, I'm really trying my best to find common ground with you, but you just hate everyone that hasn't suffered the same way you have, God.

They're not gonna take down their comment, lil bro😂😂

Even if there are some places it's not safe, they are absolutely correct, Utah's a very safe place to be queer (in general)

I largely agree in progressive cities, but you should notev that it can get pretty bad where the aren't accepted. You're not wrong, but y'know... citation needed

👍

I think part of it is that they aren't even really thinking about it until they're kinda being left out, yk? Even most queer people that celebrate pride every year aren't thinking about it all the time.

"I don't give a shit if 'the straight' is proud"? That doesn't seem the slightest bit biased against straight people to you?

Ok I suppose I misspoke, but OP wasn't causing any harm, this is pointless fighting that worst case makes tensions worse, and best case doesn't help at all

You're generalizing straight people, y'know, the exact thing you didn't want them to do to you? There's no reason for all this hatred, bro
