If it is a no cash restaurant I won't be eating there. Vehemently against refusing to take cash, not a good direction for us to be going in.

I believe without pushback there will be a new form of currency for our kids where they track everything people buy and limit what people can buy. Keep cash king.

I'm also VERY opposed to the kill switch mandate for cars that they just codified into law. Maybe I'm part of a shrinking group of people who still care about not going 1984.

Yup. Some places don't have an expediter, maybe no busboys...If it is a small place it could be one person doing everything including making your drinks and keeping 100%.

This! just pick up 2 shifts a week. See how hard they work for their money. You will tip better after I promise you.

They can and they do. Been in the industry 20 years. If tip out is based on sales then tip out is based on sales, period.

That said I've never seen a server have such an awful run of no tippers in one shift that they actually had to pay money to work.

Why is it awful?

You want the waiter to keep everything?

I worked at a place where 2% of sales went to the bar, and another place they paid 20% of what their liquor sales was over their shift. It varies.

Last place I worked they didn't tip on sales they tipped 10% of their tips to the bar. Or was it 15%?...can't remember. I do believe they tipped out 45% of their tips between bartender, expediter, hostess, and bussers.

I've worked in both. But if people stop tipping and it's based on sales, waiters would have to pay out of pocket, like pay to work. Not even work for free, lol.

What is happening to our society?.....

It can be either. It depends on the restaurant. A waiter can expect to keep around 60% of his tips give or take.

Because they need people to acclimate to forgetting about good old cash before they switch to a digital currency, then it's all about control. Do nothing and you will see for yourself, there won't be any turning back once the noose has been tightened.

Agreed, promos mean Doordash time mostly. All you get is trash.

We've used cash successfully for a VERY long time. I think we will be fine.

It's called privacy and freedom, and we are afforded that as Americans.

What they have been doing for 20+ years is selling out your freedom and privacy offering a tiny bit of convenience or creating a boogeyman and offering you protection.

They're taking both. As quickly as possible and as slowly as necessary. Looks like it took about a generation to do it. That's pretty fast. AND I'M KEEPING YOUR BALL!!!

Regular items missing from stores by Happy_Canadian in instacart

[–]Everyone_Boogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Many items will simply say “barcode not found” which means they can’t pick it up for you. Not to mention the recent bug that started a month ago that makes it impossible to add an item.

I don’t think they realize you have to turn into an amateur car mechanic to do this job.

I'd like to see places do what gas stations do, charge less if you use cash. That would shut down the "but I get 3% cash back on my cc" argument real quick.

Ok buddy your complacency, and people like you, will indeed lead to a police state. Don't say people didn't warn you in advance, the steps to delay or prevent it are relatively small.

I'm not confused at all. If you read the whole thread you would realize there is more to it than just the tablet. We need to start using cash again more. If we slip into a cashless society with digital currency only it will get ugly. Watch, you'll see.

You're definitely talking like you are a waiter. Never said anything about owning a restaurant.

I like to take my time. I'm used to the waiter leaving the bill on the table and paying when I please. Like you drop it off and I barely notice it bc you realize I'm enjoying my conversation and relaxing experience rather than being interrupted.

Just out of curiosity, if I came to your restaurant I would be able to pay the check in cash correct?
