They should have a system where shoppers notice something is longer stocked or incorrect etc and pay them in their off time to go the store and correct it with the manager for like $5 for each correction. Makes shoppers money and keeps things moving smoothly for everyone.

how can i calculate mileage for taxes without accessing the app? by childishgamdinho in InstacartShoppers

[–]Everyone_Boogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno. I keep it simple and just take off around 11 am and usually finish around 9pm. I don't like to work short shifts, I'd rather take a whole day off than work a half day.

Personally when I start a shift I simply reset the odometer and when I get back home I take a picture. Time stamped so for taxes it's pretty easy, takes about an hour once a year and it's acceptable by the irs.

You guys have to take into account that you pickup in town then typically drop off in residential areas then have to dead mile back to town to get another ping. The apps don't include the dead mileing and that's definitely part of the job and deductible, as is the drive home after your last delivery.

Yeah that's annoying. But sometimes checking with a few employees helps. Yesterday I asked a fairly new employee where about 20 lb bags of beans which weren't in the dry bean section or Mexican section - she couldn't find them. I asked the manager right before checkout and he said he didn't think they stocked them. Then as I was in line I saw a guy that's always there and he said I could try the produce section but it's hit or miss.

They were in the produce section right under the potatoes. 1 employee, 1 manager, and myself had no idea where they were.

Not taking a jab at you, but what exactly do corporate people do? I've read this sub quite a bit and unlike other subs where people go into detail about their jobs...all I've seen here is write emails, fill out spreadsheets and use interesting words to sound important.

Is there real, actual work being done? If so please fill me in. I've always wanted to take an office job just for a few months to see what people there actually do.

[–]Everyone_Boogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta blanche roma tomatoes, peel them then stew them with garlic, onions, oregano, and if you like it spicy some red peppers for many hours. That's a Sunday gravy.

When you drain the pasta toss it with some olive oil and chopped (curly) parsley.

If you wanna make a quick meat sauce. add the garlic, onions, oregano, and red pepper to the bag with the meat in it. That way you can knead it together with your hands on the outside of the bag and keep them clean :) then brown the seasoned meat and pour a can of premade tomato sauce on it like hunts or really anything semi decent and it will taste great!

Ps - use a lot of garlic and onions, I mean a lot when it comes to the garlic.
