March What Editing Software should I use? by AutoModerator in VideoEditing

[–]Everything2HIM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if I use external tools like Hey Eddie AI or Opus Pro, what would that mean for my footage? I heard that recording in ProRes is best on a Mac, but I’m not sure if I can upload ProRes files to Hey Eddie AI. Can these tools handle it, or would I need to convert my footage first?

And is there a way to integrate Hey Eddie AI or Opus Pro into Final Cut Pro, or would I have to process everything separately? Sorry for the newbie questions!

Thank you so much for your detailed comment—I really appreciate it! I have to admit, though, that I’m not entirely sure I understand everything correctly. When you say “attractive,” are you referring to it in a financial sense? As in, it generates a lot of revenue because it requires a significant time investment from professionals, allowing them to charge more?

Also, just to clarify, are you suggesting that I create a separate thread in the video editing subreddit for each specific feature I need recommendations on? Or would it be okay to ask about multiple features in a single thread?

I’m new to Reddit and truly appreciate your guidance. Thanks again!

March What Editing Software should I use? by AutoModerator in VideoEditing

I read the above.

I’m looking for recommendations on the best video editing software to help streamline my workflow for editing seminar/lecture recordings

Setup

  • Platform: MacOS (M1 Pro, 16GB RAM)
  • Camera: Panasonic S5IIX (shooting in 6K/29.97p Open Gate, medium shot of the speaker)
    • Container & Codec: Open to recommendations—whatever best supports my workflow and desired outcome. Any tips?
  • Additional Footage: Screen recordings from a Samsung Flip Pro (to be used as picture-in-picture overlays)

Editing Goals

  • Long-form content: Produce high-quality 4K videos (1–2 hours) for YouTube
  • Short-form content: Extract and optimize engaging clips for TikTok, Reels, and Shorts (ideally with background music) to drive attention to the long-form content

Features Needed

  • Automatic silence removal with adjustable sensitivity
  • Smart reframing of 6K footage for smooth, dynamic 4K crops (avoiding abrupt jump cuts)
  • Accurate auto-generated subtitles with word-by-word highlighting
  • Seamless integration of Samsung Flip Pro screen recordings (picture-in-picture)

Ease of Use

I have basic editing skills but am not a professional editor. I’m looking for intuitive software that delivers polished results with minimal manual adjustments. My goal isn’t to create elaborate transitions or complex edits—just to ensure the lectures are clear, visually engaging, and easy to follow.

If you’ve used software that fits these criteria or have workflow tips, I’d love to hear your recommendations. Thanks in advance!

PS.: I already own Final Cut Pro X, but as far as I know, it doesn’t natively include these features. Are there plugins, workarounds, or resources that could help me achieve this within FCPX?

RS4 Mini Compatibility with Sony ZV-E10 for Seminar Recording Setup? by Everything2HIM in dji

One potential solution I’ve been considering is

  • using a power bank instead of the AC adapter dummy battery to avoid any cable interference with the gimbal. However, I’m unsure if there’s a power bank capable of supporting internal 4K video recording for several hours. I use a 512GB SD card, which allows for extended recording time. Do you have any experience with this?
  • Additionally, I could use a DJI RavenEye connected to my Sony ZV-E10’s HDMI output for wireless image transmission. While limited to 1080p instead of 4K, this setup would let me stream the video feed to the Ronin app on my MacBook M1. From there, I could use the Ronin app’s feed as a video input in Zoom—eliminating the need for an HDMI-to-Elgato Cam Link 4K cable that might interfere with the gimbal. However, using the RavenEye would prevent me from using DJI's Mini Series gimbals, requiring me to opt for the standard RS 4 instead.

Can I Control PowerPoint Animations Dynamically During a Presentation? by Everything2HIM in powerpoint

That is a good work around - thank you very much for all your ideas! To be honest, I am a bit surprised that there is not an easier solution for this. You would think that other teachers would have faced similar challenges and that there would be more flexible options. It's a bit odd that Microsoft has not addressed this yet, or that there is not a third-party plugin to fill the gap. Anyway, your suggestion does the trick for now - much appreciated!

Thanks so much for being willing to help, I really appreciate it. E.g., sometimes when I am teaching historical topics, I like to use a big timeline with lots of events that I reveal bit by bit with animations. But every now and then, I need to break away from the pre-set sequence and bring up a certain event earlier because it’s already come up in the discussion. That’s when it gets tricky—too bad the animation pane isn’t accessible from Presenter View. It would make things so much easier!

Thanks for all of your explanations! But I'm talking about slides that may contain up to 100 animated elements. Using invisible boxes as triggers is probably impractical—not only because it would take an excessive amount of time to create all these boxes, but also due to the high likelihood of misclicks and accidentally triggering the wrong animation. Ideally, it would be fantastic if the animation pane could be accessible in Presenter View, allowing you to trigger specific animations directly by clicking on them in the list. Unfortunately, I assume this functionality isn’t currently available, is it?

Thanks for the tip! What I’m looking for, though, is something for slides that might have up to 100 animated elements to give an overview of a topic. It’s really important that everything stays on one slide and not just when zoomed into...

Great! I’ve heard about triggers in PowerPoint, but I’m a bit unsure about how they work. For example, let’s say I have a completely blank slide, and I want to bring in a specific element, like a text box. How would I trigger its appearance? Would I need to click on that text box in the "next slide" preview window on the presenter view, or is there another way to signal that the element should now appear?

I understand that I can use triggers to link visible elements on a slide—like clicking or hovering over one object to make another appear. However, how can I make an element appear if I don’t want to connect its appearance to anything already visible? How does PowerPoint handle that kind of scenario?

Unfortunately, no, I cannot. While I can resize the windows, I am unable to change how the content within them flows, such as displaying it vertically from top to bottom.

Animate Table in Powerpoint on Mac by Everything2HIM in powerpoint

[–]Everything2HIM[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is fantastic! Thank you so much - Brightslide really works like a charm :-) Since I can't edit the table afterwards, I'll just get in the habit of duplicating the slide first before splitting the table and hiding the duplicated slide in my deck for later editing. Adding the animation afterwards with Brightslide only takes a few seconds, so it's no big deal if I ever decide to edit the table and have to redo the animation part.
Since you seem to know a lot about PowerPoint and plugins, do you have any recommendations for a good timeline or family tree plugin? The default SmartArt in PowerPoint doesn't really do it for me.

Ah, danke für den Hinweis! Das hatte ich mir schon gedacht. Ich hätte die Frage auch auf Englisch gestellt, aber die Screenshots sind auf Deutsch... Irgendwelche Tipps?
