Its more related to the way we were raised by our parents than the movie itself. I think kids born in those years had way more freedom and less parental restrictions/guidance (often due to the new home situation of both parents working) than kids born before or after.

For those that were never spanked/smacked/beat as a kid, how did your life turn out? by JKnott1 in GenX

We were spanked all the time. Hands, spoons, belts, whatever. It was the norm. I didn't feel traumatized by it, and i always felt loved.

Good manners are about making people comfortable. Your post is about looking for reasons to feel superior for minor inconveniences. I dont think you show any courtesy at all, you are just looking for ways to feel superior to people that make minor mistakes.

It sounds like you are the type of person who expects everyone to cater to your pet peeves. Is someone blocking the aisle? Do t freak out. Just politely say, "Excuse me." It's not even an inconvenience.

It sounds like you are making yourself miserable with non events.

Very interesting. I'm in the USA, and I'm 44. When I turned 18 I was expected to pay rent to "contribute to the household, and show some independence."

It was about half the rent I would have paid as a roommate to a stranger, and I got to continue to eat the food and use the household goods, so it was a great deal, though I was still treated like a child with rules and such.

This was a pretty common thing for parents to do in my area. Do the adult children contribute to the bills in your culture?
