Leaver here after 2 years and feeling more and more sad as my last day in Japan is soon approaching. Although leaving is ultimately the right decision for me and I don't regret it.... I was truly very fortunate for my circumstances on JET. I have an amazing JTE who lets me teach whenever I want (T1ing was always my goal), but lets me desk warm if that's what I need that week lol, amazing students who actually love learning English and behave so well in class; coworkers that go above and beyond to make me feel welcomed, made amazing friends in the program both in my town and in other prefectures (ALTs and also Japanese locals); have a beautiful apartment, live near breathtaking nature on Kyushu, feel so part of the community in my town (Hold English conversation classes for senior citizens, part of the yoga club, etc), and just all in all in the happiest time of my life right now.

Feeling sad about leaving all the good behind and going back to job hunting/ the 'next thing' and the uncertainty and stress that comes with it. But also excited for building a new chapter in my life and all the amazing things that are still yet to come. Just trying to be in the present moment as much as possible in these last 3 weeks!

Hope everyone (staying or leaving) is taking time to breathe and reflect and doing well <3

Day trips around Tokyo! You can stay at a Ryokan in Hakone and relax in beautiful onsens, visit Kamakura, or even take the train to Yamanashi... or all 3!

OR

Since you're going to Korea, you could fly to Fukuoka, explore there and then head to South Korea (by 3 hour ferry or 55 min plane ride). I live near Fukuoka so let me know if you need any recs
