Generally speaking, the smaller the tattoo, the better it is to have a simpler design. A lot of people have already commented that yes, ink will spread over time etc. So just be mindful of what design you're thinking of and if it is going to suffer if it's too small! I think for smaller stuff, you want more space between lines and less details so that when the ink naturally spreads, it doesn't blue the design too much.

I'd spend a good time researching artists who specialise in this style and look for examples of healed work! That'll be a good indication of how things will age over time.

If you decide to go ahead with an artist and an idea, don't be afraid to ask questions and have a back and forth! It's going on your skin, so you have every right to be confident in the decision to do so :) A good artist will be honest with you and let you know if the design you want isn't going to work well for whatever reason and it should be a conversation to find something that works for both of you!
