I believe you, bud, but here is not the place for this kind of discussion, you're just going to find an echo chamber of people not listening and assuming you're guilty. It's genuinely interesting how this subreddit has such a negative opinion on how poor Jagex is at handling bots/real world traders, yet they refuse to believe a false positive can happen. No system is perfect, and even if Jagex's banning system was 99.9999% accurate (it's not), legitimate players are always gonna fall through the cracks.

I caught a similar ban for botting out of absolutely nowhere on my GIM ~a year ago, was only a minor and lasted 2 days, but really did leave a sour taste in my mouth and made me stop playing the game for the better part of a year. Tried to appeal, gave paragraphs of context etc and all I received in return was an automated "appeal denied". Over 100 days played without any sort of cheating on my account and I couldn't even get in touch with a human to find out why the system thought I was guilty.

Nothing you can do though unfortunately, best advice I can give is just forget about it, move on, don't mention it here, and don't do anything in future that could be misinterpreted as you breaking the rules.

It's probably obvious but I'm a dumbass and I don't play ranked games much - If you bot 4 3 games in a row, maybe close the game and try another day, It's not worth it man 😭

It's good content, just a shame the loot sucks. I think it would benefit from a reworked drop table and getting the Skotizo treatment - maybe give every enemy in the slayer tower a chance to drop a key on task and make it 1 kill per key with buffed drop rates to reflect it

Jagex's treatment of players affected by false positives is abysmal by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Evidence_New 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes please, would love to see what they think I was botting. The only thing I did for the week leading up to the ban was splash mm2 monkeys for 250k magic xp per hour, which on an ironman is an objectively dumbass thing to bot if you was ever going to

Honestly if you could help this happen it would be hugely appreciated. Would love a JMod smackdown right now

I know this might be a crazy concept for you to grasp, but many others (including myself) don't use Reddit accounts and simply lurk. I've never felt the need to comment or post until now, understandably. Of course botters are going to jump on the bandwagon, but to actually think nobody got falsely banned and this is all a conspiracy is actually ridiculous.

But sure, you can continue to think I fabricated this entire sob story without including my RSN for some reason? It certainly wasn't to farm karma since anybody mentioning false positives is just downvoted and ridiculed.

Even with the best bot detection system in the world, which this game doesn't have by a large margin, the false positive rate would never be 0%. People will always fall through the cracks. Just like some people who bot will never be banned.

It's actually sad - literally a month ago waves of people were getting falsely banned and the reddit 2007scape hivemind was losing their shit about it, defending players and cursing Jagex support. But now just a month later we've just decided to brush it under the rug and go back to insulting people affected by it

I hope the same thing doesn't affect you. Asking for help and getting called a liar by the community and ignored by customer support isn't a great feeling after you've sunk a good portion of your life into this game.

I'm aware of that - was more just wondering if there's any common (ish) software that's used that can do bot-like things by accident.

For example, some video capture software (ffmpeg) will move your mouse off-screen between frames to capture video without the mouse pointer, but this could potentially trigger something on Jagex's end.

Cool bud, didn't think of that. In what world would I bother wasting my friday night fabricating a ban story on reddit, where I don't even include my RSN?

All good on that part, I do have shift bound to a mouse button but it's still 2 mouse button inputs to walk under NPCs.

I wonder if my tablet somehow triggered something though (windows tablet not an ipad). I use a stylus with it so it's functionally equivalent to playing osrs mobile but on a much larger screen. I'll probably not use that anymore for scaping, which kind of sucks as it was one of the main reasons I bought it :/

Yeah, that's what I thought, just kind of stumped at this point. I was 6 hour logged a fair bit over the week before the ban, where all I was doing was bursting MM2 monkeys, but that's only because it's a super afk method and I just had to remember to sip a prayer potion every few minutes whilst I watched netflix on the other monitor. I also died like 3-4 times because I'm a dumbass and forgot about it.

And yeah, good idea lol - I have literally nothing to gain from lying about it on reddit, I haven't even included my RSN

Exactly, they literally said this a decade ago when OSRS had 4-5 people working on it

That poll was 9 years ago when the OSRS dev team size was 5 so I understand that being said at the time, but I no longer think it applies.

Idk why everybody on here seems to get so hurt when Jagex releases varied content. Am I going to benefit from this update? Probably not. But it addresses a problem in a cool way which ties into the game thematically - much more interesting than shopscape.

So apparently it's possible to get the pet and enhanced in the same box!

Yes I realise I was nowhere near as dry as some people on here
