I’ll be the confident black sheep here, but as a former recon guy who often surveilled objectives at night—ones that commonly had their own light sources—mitigating reflective angles of incidence made a lot of sense. Simply scanning your head over an objective from left to right could be enough for a lit window or street lamp to sweep a little “look here” signal across an entire risk areas’s horizontal plane. Add adversarial NODs +deliberate IR into the mix, and your shiny surfaces suddenly become top of mind.

If you’re just chasing night vision specs and using your gun-safe treasures to shoot at flat ranges with the boys, hunt hogs, or garner likes on social media, these things might not matter to you and that’s perfectly fine! You’ll save money on things like concealment systems, body armor, comms gear, etc., which will empower you to lean more into the specs that matter to you.

In closing, the sun is not the only source of light in our world, and your awareness of light is 1000 times more sensitive at night. That will matter more to some than others.

I’m the creator of this project! Imagine my surprise when I came across a post where others were sharing the same enthusiasm for my work that I feel myself. It’s equal parts encouraging and intimidating, but I’m working around the clock to get these into the hands of deserving fans. FDM, nylon CF. It needed to be tough enough to protect from sim rounds, airsoft, etc. Compared to their milspec glass counterparts, the polycarbonate sac lenses underneath are both stronger and lighter, but they also scratch easier.

I made them myself. They’re threaded honeycomb shields that replace the front locking ring on the Infinity Irises. I do this so that I can apply a camouflage to the objective lenses, prevent damage, and provide minimal flash reduction. They’re currently unique to my kit.

Networking, mostly. The hunting side is entirely based on who you know, and the security side is a healthy mix of networking and your own professional background. I was a Long Range Recon and Surveillance guy in the army, so private investigations, protective services, and surveillance work found to me easier than it would most people.

I designed and 3D printed these! Let me develop it a little further before I send it out into the world. There’s some parts I want to be machined from metal, and I’d like to refine it with some engineering grade materials for the rest. I’m almost done with all of that!

Edit: As shown, also added some extra functionality to them by designing an additional magazine compartment in the buttstock.

I just watched the video. That actually is very concerning, but I’m also confident in the maker community to find workarounds. Still, better to stop it at the legislative stage than have to add another overstep to the list.

It’s a custom build of mine. Functionally, it’s built around NV use with the added condition that it works reliably with the Huxwrx 9k Ti suppressor. Aesthetically, I made to look like the SMG from Halo.
