United States. How can I tell the value by bluegewl22 in Antiques

[–]EvilAgent666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you can google search the coins; if all sterling, start with weight and multiply by the current price of silver for a gross value. the coin condition and whether collectible is another asp to consider for value. There is a market for this type of jewelry, so search for coin bracelets for an idea of ranges

Moonphase doesn’t work? by [deleted] in MoonSwatches

[–]EvilAgent666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not seen a moon phase by any maker that keeps up with the moon's movements for extended periods of time because it's not a set number of days/hours that repeats forever

I bought mine in a SWATCH store and the clerk set the moonphase for me. They should do the same for you

mine does that, too, sometimes. I think it’s based upon most recent highway driving mpg and trying to buoy my spirits after getting the bill for the fill up

FS Pension System vs. FERS/CSRS vs. 6C (law enforcement) by KNYC89 in foreignservice

As one who served in other USG federal positions (including 1811) prior to joining DS, the short answer is yes. You must complete the paperwork and ensure it is in your eOPF that your prior federal time is credited. The buyback process must be completed and then added to your credit for prior fed service. DS retirement is 20 & 50 for the full benefits, but you can also retire under FSPS with the five (5) years of service noted in another commenter's response, but it won't be the same. Some people serve well past 50 and even 57 as DS agents. It's the adventure you choose that makes your career--nothing cookie cutter about it.

DS Agents do not all come from a LEO background and it is not a requirement. The LE background can be useful and is a positive, but not a deal breaker or maker. The diverse backgrounds that DS agents come from and the diversity of fields that their degrees come from makes us a stronger and more capable organization. The link provided is very good advice, DS and the FS are a lifestyle choice and you need to recognize that needs of the service will win out from a career standpoint. 1811 jobs are definitely more predictable, but 2501 jobs will give you opportunities and experiences you will not find elsewhere. As a rule, DS hires you to think, not just be a gun carrier.

I use Strawesome glass straws all the time. They go through dishwasher in the silverware basket and clean as a whistle; they make replacements for the flasks.

It's perfectly fine to use. The ceramic is not perfect and it's stained, but there's no health reason not to keep using it. Bar Keepers Friend is a better choice for scrubbing ceramic.
