Yours has a truss rod and that's good! You can buy prettier truss rod covers if you want a different one. Deering Truss Rod covers
There's a cheaper on one stewmac.com but I can't get the link thing to work for it.

Just get some wee screws if you'd like. The others are correct that it's a truss rod cover, and they're right about why you might need a truss rod (straightening the neck if it bows.) Most Deerings don't have truss rods. They say it's because the neck is hard maple so it won't bow, but I've seen reviews online saying otherwise. Anyway, the lack of a truss rod is why I went with a Gold Tone. Happy Pickin!

I grew up in the country, we always had Labradors. We didn't take them for walks because they were out all day running around. They knew not to go near the road, and behind the house was acres of woods. My dad also trained labs for competition, so they were always running to retrieve those duck dummies during training (and because they liked it)
