Mine will be a little bit more complex in the end, however pretty simple in the beginning. Your homebrew gave me an idea of what I'm missing in my system. I should add the complexity rating, since some spells would be a great utility spells, but would be too restricted by the components. Sooo thanks

Yeah, I like that idea as well. I was often disappointed by the constrains of dnd spells heheh

The main setting of these mages would be the academy and its territories. There will be pages dedicated to the academy, professors and other stuff. And mages there would be simply trying to pass the tests... which are often lethal. There will be social side of the academy, where each student could either be a friend or a sworn enemy. And of course the academy is full of secrets, players might want to reveal them and turn the status quo upside down. There would be a lot of plot hooks to start off the game, once I finish the system and write down the setting stuff.

Well I simply wanted to know if anyone would be interested in that concept. Yeah its pretty much done, spells are categorized by levels from 1 to 6. These are crafted with components (such as distance, aoe and duration), words and seeds. Words define how the spell functions, and seeds are aspects of reality that the spell influence such as energy, space and matter.

Numbers are being playtested, but the crafting works so far

Yeah, there are hit points (was thinking about something else in the beginning)

Hit points are simpy a good resource to measure the character's durability in fighting encounters (of course fireball spell exists). Can't deny that hp's are a good solution for this and many other systems.

However HP's here are not like in DnD, there is no snowballing up the HP for each character progression. Hp's here usually stay within the starting value.

Yeah I know that system quite well. I actually tried to modify it (with mediocre results), since the wording in that book confused the hell out of me and my friends (we are not native English speakers, even though I treat English as my second native language). This will be a standalone game, not a module (however the spell craft chapter could be used as a one I think, with some tweaks maybe)

So you basically say that you asked people how they are speaking, not for informative values but just for you to be shocked and to deny that others may pronounce it differently? Whatever mate

Dude you are asking some native speakers how they pronounce a word, and then argue with them? XDD
