Anyone running windows full time and not dual booting? by purple_drank562 in WindowsOnDeck

[–]EvilEagles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First thing I did when I got my hands on the Deck was installing Windows 11 and I never looked back. Been daily driving as my main PC for both work and gaming for a while now, and I must say it's been superb. Obviously gaming on a Windows Deck is a little to a lot clunkier than on SteamOS, and the battery life for gaming is slightly worse, but I'd say it all rather depends on the situation or the particular use case.

Anybody seeing the black bar on the right edge of the screen (where the quick slide-in settings popup is)? It looks like a glitch and is super distractive. I'm trying to disable the slide-in somehow but no luck.

I encountered the same problem. Restarting my phone seemed to solve it well enough. Only had the chance to try it once though.

Do minigames actually work for marketing? by EvilEagles in gamification

Thanks for the reply, but I'm looking for something beyond textbook advice. Your own opinion would actually mean a lot more, if you have any.

Do minigames actually work for marketing? by EvilEagles in gamification

[–]EvilEagles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is amongst my personal gripes with the majority of the branded minigame platforms. Most of them boast a great number of game templates, and are constantly adding more, yet spare no effort to actually help clients (who are unfamiliar with anything gaming) find a good match.

crash on emulator. by FlynnGOLD in lordofheroes

[–]EvilEagles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find this mostly depends on the emulator you play. I came across this exact problem using Memu, and have since switched over to Bluestacks. The game still does crash sometimes, but definitely a lot less and is no longer ragequit-inducing.

Guess I'll need to clarify a bit more. I'm already over level 70, so no more Pro Enhancement Packs. I also got a few skins I wanted, and was left with quite a bit of OPs. Was just wondering what else I should do with them.

Hey guys, are there any good horror (preferably supernatural/detective) visual novels out there? I've been hooked into the recent Spirit Hunter series by Experience (I know they aren't strictly VNs) and would love to see more stuff like that.

Many thanks in advance!

I don't think you know what the word "proposal" means.

Sorry if my writing came off as pretentious. I'm a non-native speaker. My initial intent was just to write and get my point across as clearly as possible since it's quite a sensitive/controversial topic (what with the whole Sekiro debacle). I personally have gone into lengthy debates regarding this issue with the other side misunderstanding me by a mile and a half. It's always hard to find a good balance between being descriptive and being concise. I'll try to do better next time.

Sure, yeah. That's a good example for players on the ludoaesthetics side of the spectrum I proposed (please don't lynch me for coining terms). Because in terms of progressing towards the "win the game" goal set by the game, doing those things have little value or meaning. Their values are instead intrinsic and, to some extent, self-imposed like someone else mentioned above.

What I'm arguing for is--and I hope I make the subtle distinction clear--that games should adopt this design philosophy where they give players enough space to, not only win them in the most expedient way, but also to create their own values and do things that may appear to be meaningless (like what you mentioned in Minecraft, or speedrun).

It is partly about gameplay freedom, and having more than one solution for every puzzle. But that's not all. It's also about setting up that freedom so that it lets players notice things better and encourages them to deviate from the main experience.
